HP scanjet 2400 issues

I have been using HP Scanjet 2400 scanner. The scanner is a very good entry-level product
having, in addition to scanning images with reasonable high resolution, useful features such as
scanning documents, scanning multiple PDF files, scanning directly to MS WORD etc. I used it
under WINDOWS 2000, Windows XP without any problem.
But if one installs Internet explorer-8, HP Director screen cannot be loaded. HP Image gallery is
seen and one can scan images but document-scanning features are not available. HP has
provided a critical update to address this problem. The details are:

Type: Update
Version: 1.0.0.0 (13 Feb 2007)
Operating System(s): Microsoft Windows XP
File name: CIT207355-HPCOM-PATCH-v8.exe (926 KB)
This update restores missing icons and contents of HP Director screens which may not function
properly after upgrading from Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 to a newer revision of Internet
Explorer. The relevant link to the website is:

mode=2&taskId=135&swItem=oj-46104-1

First install HP scanjet software and the driver supplied along with the product. The icons
displayed on DESKTOP are usually HP Director, HP Image and photo gallery. With versions of
Internet explorer higher than 6, if you click on HP Director icon, HP Director screen along with its
associated icons will not be displayed. Close the HP Director and install the above update. Now
HP Director is displayed and can be used without difficulty. You don’t need to re-start the PC also.
Many of you may already be knowing this. But I thought of sharing this information through
SCRIBD.
