Postgraduate and Faculty Seminar in the

Philosophy of Religion
Spring 2010

The seminar meets on Mondays from 3 to 4:30 p.m. The project this half-session is to revisit
George Lindbeck’s The Nature of Doctrine.

First published in 1984, this book's provocative exploration of the nature of Christian doctrinal
claims generated intense debate and gave crucial impetus to the so-called postliberal turn in
recent theology. To mark the 25th anniversary, Westminster/John Knox has published a new
edition of the text. We will work through the argument of the work over a three week period
after the Easter vacation. Copies of the new edition have been order from Blackwell’s on the
High Street.
