Ancient Egypt/Nubia Project

Directions: Choose one of the following project ideas to complete for

your Ancient Egypt and Nubia “exit” project. These are to be
completed outside of class. If you have questions, you must ask during
your social studies class or during homebase. Do not ask questions on
the day the project is due.

1. Write a 1-2 page paper on one of the ancient Egyptian pharaohs we

discussed in class, and create a Cartouche for this pharaoh.

2. Construct a model pyramid as seen in ancient Egypt. A 3 paragraph

writing will accompany your project. Paragraph #1 should explain the
significance of pyramids to Egyptian Culture, Paragraph #2 should
explain why pyramids were ultimately a detriment to the culture,
Paragraph #3 should explain how you chose to create your pyramid.

3. Create a 5-minute video of the mummification process. Also, a

typed step-by-step process for your project is required. (i.e. doll, toy,
etc)

4. Write a 1-2 page paper on one of the ancient Egyptian gods or

goddesses, and create a mask to represent the god/goddess.

5. Create an authentic Nubian piece of pottery as seen from Kerma.

The design and colors should be reflective of the time period. A 2-3
paragraph writing will accompany your project with the rationale
behind your work and explanation of its significance to Nubian Culture.

6. Design a three-dimensional map of the Nile River from where the

Blue and While Niles come together all the way to the Nile Delta.
Include cataracts, three Nubian cities, Upper and Lower Nubia, Egypt,
Valley of the Kings, Giza, and the Mediterranean Sea. A 2 paragraph
writing will be required with Paragraph #1 explaining the importance
of the geography on the development of Egyptian civilization, and
Paragraph #2 about unique aspects of Egypt’s geography. (Can be
