Criteria for selecting a Project for MBAHCS Course

· It should be a live project on an ongoing problem faced by an organization.


· The project should enable the student to apply his/her theoretical knowledge, analytical
and problem solving skill.
· The project should be based on a manageable problem that is within the scope of the
ability of the student.
· It should be possible to complete the project within the stipulated time frame.
· The Healthcare Company / Hospital management should be interested in the outcome of
the problem.
· There should be some value addition to the Company through the project.
· The Company should be able to provide the necessary infrastructure and support to the
student for carrying out the project.
· The Company guide should have enough time to guide and evaluate the student.
· The Company should be well established and have good credentials. Size of the Company
is not so important, but it should serve as a future reference point for the student.
· The Company should have prior experience in offering projects to students and guiding
them.
· A proper brief should be given - the purpose of the project and the key deliverables should
be made clear.

Note: The LC faculty should decide on the suitability of the project based on the above criteria.
Students should consult the LC faculty before accepting a project.

Executive Summary: Executive summary should be of one page summary of the project
report. It should consist of the statement of the problem, main findings, and
recommendations for the further use. It should be typed in double line spacing, Font
Style-Times New Roman and Font Size-14.

Note: By the word Table, is meant tabulated numerical data in the body of the project
report as well as in the appendices (If any). All other non-verbal materials used in the
body of the project work and appendices such as charts, graphs, maps, photographs
and diagrams may be designated as figures.

Chapters: Mainly the chapters can be broadly classified into 3 parts:


1. Introductory chapter

2. Chapter(s) on the main content of the project:

a. Aims and objectives of the study

b. Literature review / related research outcomes (should not be more than 500
words)

c. Methodology used: Data collection method, research tools used, sampling


methodology, validity of the data

d. Data analysis and interpretation / Research findings

3. Recommendations and Conclusion. Limitations of the study and scope of further


research if any.

The main text will be divided into several chapters and each chapter can be further divided
into several divisions and sub-divisions.

ü Each chapter should be given a relevant title.

ü Tables and figures in a chapter should be placed in the position with respect to
the reference where they are cited.
ü Headers and Footnotes should be used sparingly. The title of the project must
be reflected in the left side of the header and chapter name must be in the
right side of the headers. Page numbers are to be placed in the right side of the
footer. They should be typed single space and placed directly underneath in the
very same page, which refers to the material they annotate.

NOTE: Always the report must be ended with the concluding chapter and future
enhancements

References/Bibliography: The listing of references should be typed 4 spaces below the


heading “REFERENCES” in alphabetical order in single spacing left – justified. The
reference material should be listed in the alphabetical order of the first author.

Suggested Projects topics for MBAHCS but are not limited to:
The following project topics are for your guidance only. You may do a project on any of the
suggested topics or may opt to select a topic based on an ongoing problem in a hospital /
healthcare organization. You may approach Hospital Administrators or Managers in a healthcare
facility and gain knowledge of a problem area and conduct a study based on that.

specialty hospital. (Health screening dept, In-house pharmacy, Out-

7 A comparative study on waiting time in various hospital departments
and recommendations to decrease waiting time (Out-patient dept,

Theatre/ wards / etc. and corresponding recommendations to improve
job satisfaction.
9 A study of sickness absenteeism among various groups of hospital
employees (nurses, House-keeping staff, ward boys, CSSD employees,
doctors, etc). A comparative study of the same may also be done.
10 A study on work safety for employees in the radiology department /
waste disposal department / lab / housekeeping / etc. and
corresponding recommendations to improve work safety. A comparative
study may also be undertaken between the departments.
11 A study on Waste disposal management in a hospital / laboratory / a
nursing home and recommendations for safe disposal.
12 A study on hospital acquired infections and prevention
recommendations.
13 A study on the efficiency of CSSD (or any other department of a multi-
specialty hospital)
14 A cost analysis study in general ward (or any other department) of a
hospital to develop user charges.
15 A comparative study on cost analysis of the various departments in a
hospital and cost-cutting recommendations.
16 A study on formulation of marketing strategies to promote a healthcare
service (e.g.: ‘Women Wellness check-up’ promotion).
