Eliciting ideas:

1. Teacher will show a video on the phenomena of lightning.


2. Teacher will ask what they can see from the video and how does the light travel.
3. Students and teacher do discussion about the video that had been shown.
4. Next, the teacher will show the How Light Travels QuickTime Video to see
another demonstration of how light travels in straight lines.
5. Teacher tells the pupils that they are going to discover about how the light travel and how
the shadow form through opaque and translucent objects.

Activity 1: Traveling light.

1. The pupils will be seated in their usual groups.


2. The teacher will have 3 cards already cut with the holes in the middle of each
card. Place an object on the wall with masking tape at eye level.
3. The teacher will hold a flashlight while three students will hold the precut cards in
a straight line.
4. The holes in each card will let the ray of light shine through the holes in the
cards.
5. The light should be shining through all of the cards onto the object on the wall.
The student will observe what will happen.
6. Then, one card is moved out of alignment. The student will observe what will
happen.

Application of ideas:

1. Teacher will give the handout to the students for them to answer.
Teacher will ask the student:
 name opaque and translucent in everyday life and how to use them.
 name 3 examples of phenomena that shows light travel in straight line.
