Present Simple I go. (Yo) voy. Mainly used to express habit or ability (I play the

Imperative (You) go / study.
(Let’s) go / study.
Present I am going. (Yo) estoy yendo. Used to express current action.
Continuous I am studying.
Present Perfect I have gone. (Yo) he ido.
I have studied.
Preterite I went. (Yo) fui. Implies that the action took place in the past and
I studied. that it is not taking place now.
Imperfect I used to go. (Yo) iba. Very restricted use.
I used to study.
Past I was going. (Yo) estaba yendo.
Continuous I was studying.
Present I would go. (Yo) iría. Can refer to the past, for example in reported
Conditional I would study. speech:

I warned him that I would call the Police if he did


not turn the music down. (The condition was not
met.)

I would have called the Police if he had not turned


the music down. (The condition that was met.)
Past I would have gone. (Yo) habría ido.
Conditional I would have studied.
Pluperfect I had gone. (Yo) había ido. A past action that was completed before some
(Past Perfect) I had studied. other past event.
Future I will go / study. (Yo) iré. Used to express intention, prediction, and other
I shall go / study. senses.
Future I will be going.
Continuous I will be studying.
Future Perfect I will have gone / studied. (Yo) habré ido. Used to express a future action that will be
I shall have gone / studied. completed before another future action.
