Infant mortality rate = 60.625%

Life expectancy = 40.5years

Infant Mortality rate index = (166 - Infant Mortality rate) x 0.625

= (166 – 60.6250) x 0.625

= 65.859375

Life expectancy index = (48 - life expectancy) x 2.7

= (48 – 40.5) x 2.7

= 20.25

Comments:

From the PQLI, the values of Ghana and Nigeria in 2007 shows Nigeria as a country with many
of its populace having a good physical life than the populace of Ghana. Nigeria as a country was
improving in physical quality of life than Ghana as at 2007.
