Three important events in my life

I don’t remember how I got involve in this technique, debating. Yet this activity
becomes one of my interests now. I started this when I was in form one, but my first
competition, which is one of the important events in my life, happened in the middle
of my form-two school life. That was important because I enjoy debating indeed, and
it was the first debating I ever had. I think I was lucky, as my first debating
competition, our opposing side was St. Stephen Girls College. First, their school
campus is really grand and beautiful and British style compares with my school, and I
was glad to visit it. Second, two of my opponents were native speaker and one of
them was a form six student, and they are all apt at English. Though we lost that time,
but we were not frustrated. I think it was an excellent experience to debate with a
reputable school, because we will learn that succeed doesn’t come easy.
The second important event in my life was the first school day of my form two,
which was 4, September 2007. It was the day that I knew my class teacher died and
also the first time that someone close to me died. A newspaper put it as a headline. I
didn’t know that before I reached my classroom. Most of the people were reading and
discussing this news. At first, I thought there was only another man with the same
name died, because I could not see any sadness on their faces, but later a classmate
told me that was true. And we spend our entire day with some social workers or
psychologists. I went to the mourning meeting, but not the funeral. After this year,
through some activities, I can determine which students really respect our teacher and
which are only saying the word.
The third important event in my life was only a negligible incident, but I learn
something from it. In a Wednesday, I had a debating competition that afternoon. So I
went to find my debating teacher with a boy also in the team and asked him
something. Then I saw my form one English teacher, she said “Hi, John” to my
teammate. (My teammate actually is my form one and two classmate, and potentially
he will be my form three classmate) Well, that was nothing wrong, right? The problem
was I felt like I was invisible, because John was standing behind me. Don’t tell me
that teacher cannot see me. I know I wasn’t very remarkable or extraordinary in
English last year and I know teachers always have prejudice to students, but it
shouldn’t be that apparent. That hurt me a bit, because I improve a lot. This incident
made me know that not all teachers are good, though they are experienced.
