MORNING NOTE 15 OCT, 2010


MARKET INSIGHTS: On Thursday Oct 14, 2010,The Indian markets witnessed a down day
DATA MATRIX OF LAST SESSION
after a robust rally in previous session; the benchmarks suffered a cut of about a percent after
INDEX Close Chg Chg profit booking intensified in the second half. The start of the day was good and the markets
Sensex 20497 -191 -0.92% surged to touch a fresh high tracking the good global cues, the US markets closed higher while
the Asian markets made a solid start. The first hour of trade gave a sense that markets are

nearing to touch their all time high with Nifty surging around 6300 mark and Sensex
Midcap 8414 -23 -0.27% approaching 20900 level but then traders started taking profit, cashing their gains at the higher
Smallcap 10708 -54 -0.50% levels and took the markets down. After words the trade remained range bound and market
men were taking heart that though the markets are not scaling high they were not slipping
VALUE TRADED (Rs Crs) Chg either. But as the trade entered into its last leg, the selling intensified and what was looking as
firm gain vanished in the last one and half an hour of trade, though small spikes were seen in

last moment but that proved insufficient to take the markets into green. The broader indices
NSE 18533 -5.14% that outperformed for most part of the trade too lost their momentum during the final hours
F&O Total 139282 -11.07% and closed with loss of about half a percent.
The BSE Sensex shelved 205.08 points or 0.99% to settle at 20,482.80 (Provisional) while
NET INFLOWS (Rs Crs) Chg the S&P CNX Nifty shed 62.65 points or 1% to end at 6171.25 (Provisionally). The BSE
Sensex touched a high and a low of 20,854.55 and 20,442.82 respectively. There were 1136
FIIs 1020.0 -51%
advances against 1877 declines on the index. (Provisional) The S&P CNX Nifty touched a
DIIs -694.0 -49% high and a low of 6284.10 and 6157.90, respectively (Provisional). There were 420
advances against 887 declines on the index. (Provisional)
FII OPEN INTEREST (Crs) Chg Information Technology (IT) up 0.51% and Metal up 0.48% and Teck up 0.13% were the
FII Index Futures 16231 -5.38% only gainers in the BSE sectoral space, while CG down 1.91%, Oil & Gas down 1.65%,
FII Index Options 62471 1.19% Power down 1.26, PSU down 1.16% and Bankex down 1.14% were the major losers on the
BSE sectoral space. The broader indices too remained in a sluggish mood today; the BSE
FII Stock Futures 44842 -0.26% Mid-cap and Small-cap indices lost 0.28% and 0.53% respectively.
FII Stock Options 1342 10.82% Asian markets finished mostly in the positive terrain with most of the indices gaining
more than a percent on signs of strengthening economic and corporate earnings data that
World Indices Chg boosted investors' confidence. Shanghai Composite rose 18.28 points or 0.64% to 2,879.64,
Hang Seng surged 394.48 points or 1.68% to 23,852.17, Jakarta Composite gained 6.50

points or 0.18% to 3,618.48, Nikkei 225 soared 180 points or 1.91% to 9,583.51, Seoul
Nasdaq 2435 -0.25% Composite jumped 23.61 points or 1.26% to 1,899.76, Taiwan Weighted added 108.79
FTSE 100 5727 -0.35% points or 1.34% to 8,215.45. On the flip side, KLSE Composite was down 0.59 points or
0.04% to 1,496.38 and Straits Times slipped 7.14 points or 0.22% to 3,195.02.
Commodity Chg Currently in the process is Coal India, the biggest coal miner in the country by far, and
Crude Oil (US$/bl) 84.00 -1.18% after it a host of major public sector units including the likes of steel major SAIL, Shipping
Corporation, Power Grid, and oil sector companies have been lined up to sell part of the
Gold (US$/oz) 1,380.00 0.22% government stakes in them.

TECHNICAL VIEW: Remember we have mentioned 6295 will be the key resistance zone in our previous note. Exactly to our expectation
spot index shown some stiff resistance around the same , ended up with merely 1%loss in the last session. For the upcoming sessions we
believe quite a range bound scenario between 6000-6295 though momentum remains on buying side. Moreover Q2FY10earnings sessions
will decide the trend in the upcoming sessions though we expect spot index will regain its previous highs of 6357 in a short span of time. On
the flip side any negative outcome from global as well as domestic front will shattered the current euphoria however any correction near to
