    Washington, D.C. - Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) has filed Freedom of Information Act requests with the General Services Administration, the Office of Management and Budget and the Internal Revenue Service seeking records related to savings from the e-Government Travel Service, web-based travel management services provided to the federal government by three contractors. When the $450 million e-Gov Travel contract was awarded in 2003, the government said it would save millions of dollars by reducing federal travel management costs by up to 50 percent. It is unclear if those savings have been realized, or if the costs associated with e-Gov Travel instead have caused some agencies to curtail or limit travel.     Dear Mr. Hodes:

    I enclose two pages, bearing control numbers 000203 and 00204, that are potentially
    responsive to the portion of CREW's Freedom of Information Act request seeking records pertaining
    to the performance of Gov- Trip (e-Gov Travel). Each page is entitled "Closed Service Requests
    Summary Report-By Subcategory (Service requests closed by 'ESS_TRAV function)." One page
    reflects the data for fiscal year end 2009, and the other for the first quarter of fiscal year 2010. The
    Service informed me that these reports capture the categories of phone calls that the Service's travel
    help desk received, and that the actual messages are not saved. The acronym "PTSP" means Public
    Transportation Subsidy Program, and TRAS means Travel Reimbursement Accounting System.

    Management and
    CREW's FOIA request also asks for records provided to the Office of

    Budget or to the General Services Administration relating to savings realized as a result of e-Gov
    TraveL. The Service has informed me that neither of those agencies requested the Service to compile
    any records for their use. Therefore, the Service believes it has no records responsive to this portion

    (item no. 2) of CREW's request.
