27,765 pumasa sa June 2008 Nursing Exam
Umaabot lamang sa 43.1% o 27,765 ang mga nakapasa sa 2008 June Nurse Licensure
Examination na ibinigay ng Board of Nursing ng Professional Regulations
Commission (PRC) kung saan mula ito sa kabuuang 64,456 na mga examinees.

Ang naturang pagsusulit ay kasama na dito ang mga first timers, repeaters at
removals.

Isinagawa ang eksaminasyon sa sampung lalawigan sa boung bansa, na

kinabibilangan ng Manila, Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, Davao, Iloilo, Legazpi,
Tacloban, Lucena, Tuguegarao at Zamboanga City.

Itinakda naman ang oath ceremony para sa mga bagong nurses sa August 19 – 20,
2008, sa SMX Convention Center, SM Mall of Asia, Pasay City.

Samantala, ang topnotcher ay si Aira Therese Javier ng UST na nakakuha ng 86.00

percent, pumapangalawa si Alrin Falgui ng FEU-Nicanor Foundation, 85.80%;
pangatlo Kristine Mendoza, Remedios Trinidad Romualdez M. Sch., at Joanna
Quirante ng UST, 85.60%.

JUNE 2008 NLE Results Bulletin
As of now, there is still no official announcement from the board of nursing.
Last week of July is still the current official announcement although Mr. Sto
Tomas did not promise that it is for sure.

Do not believe in rumors especially those text hoax claiming that the passing is
only 20%. That is impossible. Usual passing will range from 40-50% as usual.
Topnotcher's ratings will range from 85% to 88%.

Oath taking, according to the BON is to be held this AUGUST 19, 2008 in SMX
convention center in Manila. Regional oath taking is scheduled as follows :

of JULY.

Wednesday, July 09, 2008 Shrinking US demand swells jobless Filipino nurses

The demand for Filipino nurses in the United States and other key labor markets
is falling, thus swelling the ranks of jobless Filipino nurses, the Philippine
Nurses Association (PNA) said Tuesday.
“In the past two years alone, with domestic demand not increasing and global
demand decreasing, many nurses are now waiting to be employed,” said Philippine
Nurses Association (PNA) President Leah Primitiva Samaco-Paquiz, in a press
conference Tuesday at the PNA office in Malate, Manila.

“There is already a decrease in demand for nurses, and that's the trend for now.
Mahirap po ngayong makahanap ng trabaho kahit qualified ka. Matagal. (It's hard
to find a job now, even if you're qualified. It takes a long time.),” said Dr.
Fely Marlyn Lorenzo of the National Institutes of Health, a research institute
of the University of the Philippines Manila.

Lorenzo said the nursing job market slowdown began in 2006 when the demand for
Philippine nurses plateaued due to a shrinking US market for nurses and a change
in policy of the United Kingdom on hiring of foreign nurses.

Since the domestic market for nurses is oversaturated, nursing pools of

qualified nurses in major Philippine hospitals are as high as 1,500, and
employment waiting time ranges from six to 12 months.

The PNA explained that the high unemployment and underemployment of Filipino
nurses is due not only to lower demand but also overproduction of nurses by
Philippine nursing schools.

The nursing licensure examinations produced 37,030 nurses in 2006 and 31,275
nurses in 2007. In 2007, there were about 65,000 newly-registered nurses.

No classes at all levels in Metro Manila, 12 provinces (Cavite, Batangas, Rizal,
Bataan, Bulacan, Pampanga, Tarlac, Zambales, Pangasinan, Benguet, La Union and
Ilocos Norte), Monday

The Commission on Higher Education made the announcement of suspension of

tertiary level classes Sunday evening, hours after the Department of Education
said pre-schools up to high schools in the said areas would be closed Monday due
to the typhoon.
