Analysis of draft digipak:
As you can see, this is the back of our Chloe and I decided to keep the images for
digipak. Generally, the rear is where the
tracks are listed which Chloe and I took
into account when taking the photos for
our digipak. When taking the photo, I
made sure that Chloe was in the far right
side of the lens so that there would be the
correct amount of space to the left of her
for the track list.
Overall, I am extremely satisfied with our first draft of the
digipak. I feel that the image at the back is very effective
and appropriate through its use of colour and positioning.
For example, the shirt which Chloe is wearing is light like
the background in the studio while the prominence of her
hair coincides with the maroon coloured text which has
created particularly aesthetic visuals; also, the colours,
images and text complement one another very well.
This is the spine of the digipak which is why we have
placed the band name and album name ‘Two Suns’ here.
When placed in a CD-rack the consumer will be able to
read what the album is and whom it is by. Again, we used
the same font and colour as the track list to maintain
continuity.
the digipak simple yet effective. We thought
that we would be able to effectively
manipulate the red-colour of her hair and
green eyes in Photoshop to make the cover
of the digipak striking and outstanding
when placed next to others.
We both decided that lower-case letters
would be more effective to maintain the
simplicity appeal. In addition, for continuity
reasons and to make sure the text
connected to the image, we used the
colour-clone tool on Photoshop to create
the exact colour of Chloe’s face for the text.
As the name of the band is ‘Bat For Lashes’ we feel
that having imagery based around eyes is of high
importance. In Photoshop, Chloe and I manipulated
the brightness and contrast of her eyes while using a
gradient colour tool to extract the particular colours
which we thought needed to be deeper. We both
feel that the cover of the digipak is highly relevant to
our target audience while being in keeping with the
title of the band
