Swiss Post Solutions’ off-site mail
security solution for BSkyB, delivered
more than just peace of mind for our
client. Locating your mailroom off-site
can release valuable space within your
premises.
Background
In 2001 MailSource were awarded the contract for the
provision of mail related services to BSkyB in
Livingston and Dunfermline. MailSource inherited an
operation serving 4 buildings from 2 central
mailrooms in Livingston and Dunfermline.
Business Need
BSkyB were interested in implementing more rigorous
security procedures for their incoming mail operations.
The requirement was for large volumes of mail to be
screened for potential threats, including organic
materials.
Swiss Post Solutions were tasked with establishing a
suitable facility and sourcing the necessary equipment
to ensure comprehensive threat detection and
handling were possible. In September 2004 we
opened an off-site facility for the exclusive use of
BSkyB in Scotland.
Swiss Post Solution
The off-site facility was located between the BSkyB’s
two sites and all mail and courier deliveries are
diverted there. Screened items are opened, sorted
and packed for delivery with items tracked throughout
the process using Swiss Post Solutions unique track
and trace software, iTrak.
Suspicious items are opened in an air filtration unit
which protects the health and safety of the staff and
prevents cross contamination.
