PRELUDE TO CRITICAL REVIEW:

BOOK: THE ARCHITECTURE OF JUMPING UNIVERSE by Charles Jencks

Reason:

There are very few pure architectural theorists in Contemporary Architectural scenario, and one of
them is CHARLES JENCKS. He has probably more writings to his name than architectural works.
To review a theorists work is more challenging to me and hence I chose one of his works.
Out of his more popular works I chose this particular book “ The Architecture of Jumping Universe “
for the simple reason that the title looked very interesting arousing a curiosity about the contents of
it.

Outline:

This particular book compares the architectural theories & timelines on a macro level ie in Cosmic
Timelines wherein each transitional phase of architecture is actually a jump, not gradual and how
the cosmic theories and philosophies are interconnected influencing the architecture of the time,
with special emphasis on contemporary architecture.
