    No. 77/2010/Fin. Dated, Thiruvananthapuram. 12th August 2010
    Sub:- New symbol for the Indian Rupee – Regarding.
    Ref:- D. O. No. 3/13/07-CY II, dated 26-7-2010 of the Director General
    (DOC), Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance,
    Government of India.

    The Government of India has approved the symbol for the Indian Rupee
    as depicted below.

    The new symbol is to be adopted for the use of the symbol for the Indian
    Rupee in place of any symbol presently in use including the symbol used in
    regional language as the symbol for the Indian Rupee to that a single symbol
    ultimately comes into use throughout the country.
    Hence, all the Government officers, staff and employees in the State are
    directed to use the aforementioned symbol of Indian Rupee instead of any other
    sign presently in use
