MANAGEMENT INFORMATION

A pioneer in selling cotton garments in India, Cottonking was


founded in 1996 by Mr. Pradip Marathe, CMD Cottonking and
Mrs. Shubhada Marathe, CFO Cottonking.

With a BE (Mechanical) and MBA (Marketing) and a rich


experience of over 15 years, Mr. Marathe sensed the potential
market for 100% cotton garments. Having served earlier in
Kirloskar Brothers (Compressor Division) as GM- Marketing (All
India sales), he started Cottonking's first and flagship store at
Nal Stop, Pune.

Mrs. Shubhada Marathe, a graduate in commerce, co-founded


Cottonking. She has over the years contributed substantially to
the growth of Cottonking as a brand and is primarily responsible
for Cottonking's sound and successful financial growth. Savvy
with numbers and possessing a keen eye for detail, she is now
the CFO.

To survive in the era of competition, we have to improve our quality, productivity and speed

established brands compele at a breath taking speed. They need to have a distinctive edge over
its competitiors to be successful. The industry needs to be more focused, standardised adapting
textile industries best practices with stragetic technological advancement. The tech-pro

ancillary units under one roof. Govt. of India is introducing unique scheme for the overall
development and upgradation of Indian textile Industry the High Tech Textile Parks all over
India.
In an increasingly complex global market, having forcasting view, efficient and strategic
steps are being taken for the upgradation and expansion of the industry by the
Govt. of India.

Profile of cottonking:-
Baramati Hi Tech Textile Park Ltd., Baramati an ambitious and a
pioneering project by Govt. of India offers a global platform with an entire
range of manufacturing and supply units. A chain of services under one
roof.
A highly sophisticated advanced and self sufficient park with a competent
team, wide spread robust network to support the ever-changing and
growing needs of the textile industry. The Park is well equipped with a
spectrum of textile industry needs from garment manufacturers, suppliers,
screen printers, packaging and other ancillary units, financial funding to
labor supplies etc. The BHTTP envisages that the growth should be
uniform to all. And an obvious way of achieving this is by providing a
global podium to the upcoming entrepreneurs. Undoubtedly BHTTP an
ambitious attempt to promote and project the Indian textile industry and its
products on global level. The BHTTP is committed to save the textile
industry with main stream garment, apparel manufacturers, as well as its supporting industry which will
keep a finger on the pulse of the global market in todays open economy for global players in the textile

The Govt. of India has sanctioned about 30 parks all over India under SITP of which 4 parks will be in
Maharashtra. The other 26 parks are bifurcated State wise, 6 in Gujrath, 5 in Tamilnadu, 1 in Karnataka, 2
in Rajasthan, 4 in Andhra Pradesh, 1 in West Bengal and 1 in U.P. The scheme is introduced for the
overall textile sector that encompasses technological upgradation fund scheme, group work shed scheme
and scheme for integrated Textile parks (SITP).
The scheme for Integrated Textile Parks has been introduced by the Ministry of Textile (Govt. of India) in
Sept. 2005. Any special purpose vehicle (SPV) either Public Ltd. Company, Private Limited Company,
Co-operative Society, State Govt. body coming forward to set up a comprehensive and integrated park
will enjoy a grant to the extent of 40% of the total cost of project for infrastructure and common amenities.
The park is registered under the provision of Indian Companies Act 1956 and is having status of Public
Ltd. Co.

The BHTTP is committed to save the textile industry with main stream garment, apparel

*Terms & Conditions of cottonking:-

Those women fulfilling the following terms and conditions will be given admission.
1. The trainees should be minimum 12th pass (HSC).
2. Those having some work experience related to textile or garment industry and handling
of electric tailoring machine will be preferably given admission on priority basis.
3. Preference will be given to those having done ITI or Fashion Designing Course.
4. The trainee should possess clear eye sight.
5. Certificates of educational eligibility ITI, fashion designing, caste (OBC, SC, ST) and below poverty
the required and important document with proof have to be submitted by the trainees along with the
application form.
6. It is compulsory to submit the attested copies of the following documents -
Educational eligibility school leaving certificate, work experience, cast along with the applicatio
form.
7. The admission forms will be available on the office training programme of Textile Park.
The form fees are Rs. 20/-
8. Only the authorized forms will be accepted. The acceptance of application form does not
indicate the selection of the applicant for the training programme.
9. The fees for 2 months programme is Rs. 1200/- each.
10. The fees will be refunded to the trainees belonging to ST, SC, OBC or below poverty line categories i
Govt.'s beneficial scheme are applicable to them.
The training programme will be conducted in 3 sessions.
A. Morning : From 9 a.m. to 11.30 a.m.

B. Afternoon : 12 p.m. to 2.30 p.m.

C. Afternoon : 3 p.m. to 5.30 p.m.

12. 60 trainees will be give admission in each session. Considering the response to the course the no. of
machines and trainees will be increase later.
13. The trainees will be given admission on us after scrutinizing the application form. The waiting list wil
prepared of the excess eligible students and they will be given admission in the further training course
14. The material required for the training e.g. thread, cloth, canvas, buttons, etc. will be provided by the
BHTTPL.

15. The main aim intension and focus of introducing this training programme is not to impart knowledge
to give training but to redifine the emprovement of women with a broader meaning and vision also to
the trainees in the textile park or to give them employment elsewhere by establishing then economical
socially.

* Garment Training of cottonking:-

The BHTTP is shortly commencing a Garment Training Programme to train skilled workers

required for the textile manufacturing within the premises of Textile Park, M.I.D.C. Baramati.

The training programme is for the Baramati District and specially for the women residing near

MIDC area. The duration of the training programme is for 2 months. During the training

programme the trainees will be provided given on the job training on machines related to

garment industry. The successful trainees will be recommended for employment to the

entrepreneurs in the textile park.

Benefits of cottonking:-
Accordin
g to the scheme any body coming forward as a special purpose vehicle either
Public Ltd. Co. or a Private Ltd. Co. or a Garment Co., this SPV will collect the
members / entrepreneurs setting up a unit under Textile acquired land. The
Ministry has appointed IL & FS as a Project Management Consultant who will
studying the project and make recommendations to the Ministry to allow IL & FS
to prepare the project report. After project report is submitted by IL & FS will be
put before the "Project Approval Committee" of the Ministry of Textiles. After the
approval for project (SPV) will be entitled for a grant to the extent of 40% subject
to cealing of Rs.40 Crores, 60% portion has to be brought in by the members
(entrepreneurs) of the Park. The project includes land, land development, roads,
water supply, STP ETP, electrical distribution, buddings for common amenities
and individual factory sheds. The park is registered under the provision of Indian
Companies Act 1956 and is having status of Public Ltd. Co. BHTTP a truly
magnanimous park where majority of the units are of garment manufacturing
units, with about 3500 stitching machines which provides a huge amount of
employment to about 5000 skilled and 2000 unskilled workers which is available
in the radius of 15 kms. of park. One the most prestigious project approved under
SITP with a share capital of 60 lacks was prepared by IL and FS and submitted
to the Govt. of India (Ministry of Textile). The project is worth Rs. 96.72 Crores.
The Govt. of India has accorded sanction to the park in March 2006 and has
accorded sanction to the estimated project cost of 96.72 crores on 21st March
2007. The park is entitled for a grant of Rs.38.68 crores. The Ministry has
disbursed Rs.11.60 Crores, so far out of the sanctioned grant of Rs.38.68
Crores. The park has appointed IL & FS as the Project Management and M/s.
Gherzi Eastern Pvt. Ltd. are the official architects on behalf of IL & FS. Now
speaking about the other aspects of this mammota and ambitious project which
is sprawling over a 60 acres (2,40,000) sq.mtr. of land. 95 years of lease
acquired from MIDC Baramati. The land has been acquired and is in possession
of the park. The work of total station Survey has been completed with a master
plan and layout of the park. The engineering and designing of individual factory
sheds and common facilities and compound wall, construction of factory building,
site development construction of roads, water supply scheme, sewerage, rain
water drain are still in progress. About 6 buildings are on way of completion and
we are hopeful that these units will commence the production in Nov. 2008. The
entire project is aiming to be completed by March 2009.
