Abstract
Introduction: An outbreak of drugs has resulted that the
government, by the Ministry of Interior, has pursued the five
preventive strategies focusing on school activities for drug
problem-solving in the educational institutes while Resilience
approach has been emphasized simultaneously to increase
capabilities and readiness in facing the problems and solve them
properly. The Resilience approach is applied to normal school
activities to cope with drug problems in youth and teens as target
group.
Objectives: To examine the effect of resilience program on
substance addicted preventive behavior in a high school in Sriracha
District.
Method: This study was quasi-experimental. Seventy-five 8 grade
th

students in a high school in Sriracha district were selected, and the

samples were divided into two groups; 37 students for
experimental group and 38 students for control group. The
2

experimental group participated in normal school activities. To

collect data, the Preventive Behavior Inventory for Drug Addiction
was used.
Results: Students in experimental group reported post-
experimentally they paid more attention to drug preventive
behavior than pre-experimentally at statistically significance level
(p <.01). However, there was no difference in drug preventive
behavior between experimental group and control group at
statistically significance level (p <.05) pre-experimentally and post-
experimentally. In addition, there was no difference in scores on
preventive behavior between two group pre-experimentally and
post-experimentally at statistically significance level (p <.01).
However, the scores on preventive behavior between pre-
experimentally and post-experimentally, and 4-week course of
follow-up differed between two group at statistically significance
level (p <.01).
Conclusion: The resilience program for solving drug addiction and
school activities has influenced the substance addicted preventive
behavior. Obviously, the existence of the preventive behavior in
experimental group was stronger than the effect of school activities
during 4-week follow-up after experiment.
