“Don’t!”
“Why?”
“Why?”
“I’m still alive. If you can kill me, you would have done it already.”
“Huh.”
He was silent.
“You are in love with me, Tom. I can see it. I can feel it.”
“Assassins know nothing about love. We are only here to kill. We are not allowed to attach ourselves to
people. We could not let our missions be thwarted by our emotions. It is weakness for people like me.”
“You’re not weak, Tom. Falling in love is not a weakness. Denying it is.”
“You have no idea what you are talking about Anna. Even if I was just an ordinary guy, I would think
you’re crazy saying these things.”
Tears rolled down my cheeks. Crying was always linked with begging, at least for me.
“No. So I don’t have to think about the ways to tell you I love you too.”
He lowered his face. Slowly, with my heart beating crazy, Tom kissed me. His lips were just an inch from
mine when I heard the bang. Loud and earsplitting, it took my kisser’s life even before our lips touched.
