ABSTRACT

An obstacle sensing car is a microcontroller based car


which has sensors which senses any obstacle in front of
it, if any obstacle is present then it senses it before
collision and changes its path in zig zag manner and
prevents accident.

It can also be called car robot or robo car as it uses a


microcontroller to detect obstacles and manipulate its
direction.

It uses three infra-red (IR) sensors mounted in front of


the car.

A obstacle sensing car can be defined as an electro-


mechanical system with the capability of sensing its
environment, manipulating it and acting according to the
preprogrammed sequence.

It is a machine that appears intelligent due to the


instructions it receives from a computer inside it which
handles multiple tasks.Objective of our project is to
make an obstacle sensing car robot,or a RoboCar
which uses a microcontroller.

It should sense any obstruction in front of it and should


change its path in order to prevent collision.
For this purpose it will use sensors to detect
obstructions in its front and microcontroller to take
actions and change path in zig zag manner.

hence to detect obstacles and manipulate its direction


as per the inputs from three infra-red (IR) sensors
mounted in front of the car.

The heart of the system is a microcontroller—Atmel


AT89C51/52.

For making an obstacle sensing car our main


requirements are

A Microcontroller and Sensors

Microcontroller suitable for our purpose is member of


Intel 8051 microcontroller family, it is Atmel 89C51/52.

And sensors suitable are TSOP1738 Infra Red sensors

The overall conclusion is that in the real world we can


use this for preventing fatal accidents; it can also be
used in military and security.
