PRL 605: PUBLIC RELATIONS WRITING CLASS ASSIGNMENT - FOR CLASS PURPOSES ONLY

Blog Post to Chapter’s Intranet

Jan. 1

Hello! I hope everyone enjoyed the holidays. I am pleased to announce today is my first day as
president and I am looking forward to working closely with you in the coming months. Michael Scott
led our office to an impressive $23,000 donation to cancer research and I aim to break this record
with your help!

You should have all received a detailed departmental timeline from your department heads as well as
an overall timeline for the office from me. Please let me know if you did not receive either timeline.

I appreciated the high level of support I received at our office-wide transitional meeting last month and
hope that I clearly expressed my goals and aspirations for the future growth of the office. If you have
any remaining concerns or questions please contact me directly to arrange for a one-on-one meeting.

January will be a busy time as we have two big events. First is our biennial Snowflake Dinner on
Jan. 15 at 7 p.m. The proceeds raised from ticket sales will help fund a breast cancer chemotherapy
study at the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Md. The first quarter employee newsletter will
contain detailed information about the study and a statement from the lead researcher, Professor
Smullins, regarding the goals and hypothesis of the study.

Our second event is the Winter Carnival at Golisano Children’s Hospital on Jan. 30. I spoke with the
director of the hospital this morning and the children are very excited for the event. Thank you to all
of you who have already volunteered your time and services! We are still looking for volunteers to
face paint from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. and to make balloon animals from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Please see Elliot
Stabler in human resources if you would like to volunteer for this event.

Hope to see all of you at the first employee meeting of the year on Tuesday!
