DISTRIBUTED CONTROL SYSTEM
• A control system of a manufacturing
process in which the elements are not central
in location.

• They are distributed throughout the system

with each component sub-system controlled
by one or more controllers.

• The entire system of controllers is connected

by networks for communication and
monitoring.
• COMPONENTS OF DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM:
 Facilities location
 Distribution process

• THIS STUDY PROPOSES USE OF MODELS:

 Decision factor analysis
 Analytic hierarchy process
ANALYTICAL HIERARCHY PROCESS

• Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) is an

approach to decision making that involves
structuring multiple choice criteria into a
hierarchy, assessing the relative importance of
these criteria, comparing alternatives for each
criterion, and determining an overall ranking
of the alternatives.
FEATURES

• Real world decision problems

– Multiple, diverse criteria
– Qualitative as well as quantitative
information

• Information is decomposed into a hierarchy of

alternatives and criteria
Contd….

• Information is then synthesized to determine

relative ranking of alternatives

• Both qualitative and quantitative information

can be compared using informed judgements
to derive weights and priorities
BENEFITS

• It provides a useful mechanism for

checking the consistency of the
evaluation measures and alternatives

• It minimizes common pitfalls of decision

making process eg.lack of focus,
planning, participation or ownership.
HOW TO APPLY ?

• Step 1: Define objective

• Step 2: Structure elements in criteria , sub criteria ,
objectives etc .
• Step 3: Make a pair wise comparison of elements in
each group
• Step4 : Calculate weighting & consistency ratios.
• Step5 : Evaluate alternatives to the weight
• Step 6: Get ranking
STRUCTURE OF AHP MODEL
Decision situations to which the AHP
can be applied

• Choice
• Ranking
• Resource allocation
• Bench marking
• Prioritization
• Conflict management
• Conflict resolution
