Once again, President Obama and his family have embarked on a
globe trotting, gas gusling trip at taxpayers expense, during a time of uncertainty. Today, Americans are suffering because of rising gasoline prices that are squeezing family budgets and making it hard for businesses to prosper and create jobs. One reason for the high cost of gasoline, the anti-energy policies of the Obama Administration. Ever since Obama took office, his administration has forced through an anti-energy regulatory agenda. On March 10, 2011, the Chamber of Commerce released a report that found 351 energy projects were awaiting regulatory clearance and around 140 were for renewable development with 89 coming from wind. According to Steve Pociask of TeleNomice Research," these stalled projects cost the economy $1.1 trillion in economic activity last year and would have provided 1.9 million jobs in each year of construction." Incredibly, this does not include stalled permits for oil and gas. During the last 2 years, the Department of Interior has also withdrawn 77 oil and gas leases in Utah, proposed a "wild land" policy that designates land as "Wilderness," thereby preventing energy development, and defied a court order to lift a ban on deepwater drilling in the Gulf of Mexico. These actions have failed to address rising gasoline costs and have deepened our dependency on foreign energy. Finally, more burdensome regulations are now threatening coal jobs and new regulations on natural gas are being considered. It is clear that the destructive and expensive anti-energy policies of the Obama Administration are having a detrimental affect on America. It is time to demand that Congress override these policies and allow America to develop its own natural resources.
