Five years ago, in April 2006, a veteran historian Sahr Conway-Lanz published

a book which revealed US soldiers in Korea were given orders to shoot at refugees
and the instructions came from the highest levels within the US military. The US
Defence Department was duly informed of the existence of these instructions, or
orders, in a letter dated July 26 1950 that was written by none other than the US
ambassador to Korea himself. Till now the US has consistently maintained that
its military had never shot at refugees or ever issued any instructions to shoot them.

One year later, in April 2007, the US Army finally admitted that the letter existed
but its existence was always kept secret and never revealed in later investigations
conducted into numerous cases of civilian massacres allegedly carried out by US
soldiers in Korea.

The letter clearly proved the instructions to kill people came from the very highest
levels and were passed down to the troops in the field. These orders resulted in the
killings of hundreds, if not thousands, of Korean men, women and children who
were trying to flee the fighting. These people were mowed down with rifle and
machine-gun bullets. Not included were many more who were killed by deliberate
air attacks carried out by the US Air Force. The US has never officially admitted
to carrying out such cold-hearted killings. The world must not forget these denials
especially in the light of present-day events.

A lawsuit filed in the 1990s by survivors of US massacres was subsequently thrown

out by a US court. This very clearly shows that the blood of non-US humans does
not count for much in the US consciousness when it comes to the matter of judging
US conduct and/ or US guilt. Again, the world must not forget this kind of blatantly
callous and very evil kind of double-standard behaviour, especially when looking at
today’s very violent, highly immoral and inhuman US intervention in north Africa.
