Simple Power Generator
Materials:
2 Dynamos Small plastic tube (Lollipop stick)
Battery Switch
Copper Wire LED

Introduction:

A dynamo (from the Greek word dynamis; meaning power), originally another
name for an electrical generator, generally means a generator that produces direct
current with the use of a commutator. Dynamos were the first electrical generators
capable of delivering power for industry, and the foundation upon which many other
later electric-power conversion devices were based, including the electric motor,
the alternating-current alternator, and the rotary converter. A dynamo motor, also
known as a generator, is a device that can convert mechanical energy into an
electric current. The concept of the dynamo is often attributed to Michael Faraday,
who discovered that moving a magnet around a closed electric circuit can induce
an electric current to flow in it. Modern dynamos or electric generators are made of
several components that are essential for their function.
The dynamo produces current because it acts as a simple generator. As the
dynamos’ shaft keeps on spinning, the dynamo produces current or electricity.

Battery

Procedure:
1. Connect a wire to the other end of
the battery and connect the other end of
the wire to one end of switch.
2. The second wire, connect the end of
the wire at the other end of the switch and
connect the other end of the wire to motor.
3. Thereafter, connect the other end of
the motor with the use of
plastic tube or lollipop stick that could
connect the shaft of the 2 dynamos.
4. Switch it
on, you will notice that the LED will glow
because the white dynamo produces electrical
energy that will lead to emitting the LED.
Explanation of flow of energy as seen in the diagram.
Chemical Energy = a substance energy that can be released by a
chemical reaction.
Kinetic Energy = the energy that appears in the form of an
object’s motion.
Electrical Energy = the energy associated with movement of
electrons through a wire or circuit.
Light Energy = the form of electromagnetic energy that is visible
to the human eye.
