Analysis To Design Transition

By-Sachin Raj
Introduction
It means requirements are translated into design
specification.
It basically defines that we have to convert logical
design into physical design.
Objective in designing and IS
Specify the logical design element-system design
first involve logical design and then physical design.

Analysis describe features of logical design

(outputs, inputs ,files and databases etc).
Support Business Activity
A fundamental objective in the design of an IS is to
ensure that it supports the business activity for which
it is developed .
System Features Meet User Requirment
User requirements are translated into system
characteristics during design.
Presents information and instructions in an acceptable
fashion.
Produce accurate results (information should be in
accurate Form)
Provides an acceptable interface (customer
requirements).
Human Engineering
After an IS is installed and the analysts are gone,
managers and staff members begin interacting with
the system on an ongoing basis.
Ergonomic Design
Ergonomics refers to the physical factors of an IS that
affect the performance,comfort,and satisfaction of
direct users.
Ergonomics is a concern in selection of equipment and
in the design of work areas.
S/w Development Specification
The specifications state input, output, and the
processing functions and alogorithms used to perform
them.
We have to specify all function about software.
Conform To Design Standards
Examples of areas included in design standards:
Data standards: Guidelines for data item
names,length,type specifications.
Coding standards: formal abbreviations and
Designation to describe activities and entities within
the organization.
Documentation standards: description of system
design features.
What Features Must Be Designed?
When we design a S/w then what features must be
design?
Elements of the design:
Data flow
Data show
Process
control
Design Of Output
Output is the main reason for developing the system
and the basis on which they will evaluate the
usefulness of the application.
Design Of Files
The design of files includes decisions about the nature
and content of the file itself such as whether it is to be
used for storing transaction details, historical data, or
reference information.
Design Of Input
System analysts decide the following input design
details:
What data to input
What medium to use
How the data should be arranged or coded
The dialog provides the user
Data item and validation
