Latest developments from Misurata, May 6&7, 2011

Gaddafi Helicopters and Fuel Tanks at Qasr Ahmed Ablaze

Yesterday, explosions were heard. Later it was learnt that a GRAD rocket fired by Gaddafi forces had damaged
the power generator in Qasr Ahmed. The generator is now non-operational and 90% of Misurata is now
without any electricity at all. The remaining 10% has only intermittent electricity. Approximately 60% of
Misurata were without any power. All the main generators has been damaged and non-operational and
unfixable.

The fuel tanks were hit with GRAD rockets fired by Gaddafi forces. At 11pm Libyan time, an aircraft, believed
to be a helicopter belonging Gaddafi forces, was spotted over Qasr Ahmed. This was before the explosion of
the fuel storage at midnight. It's believed that Gaddafi sleeper (his "5th column") numbers have reduced, and
the helicopter was there to take location coordinates so that Gaddafi forces could hit fuel store directly.

At about 12:10am, May 7, explosions were heard, 40 in quick succession. These were GRAD rockets targeted
the main fuel tank which supplied petrol stations in Misurata. The fuel had been stored there since before
February17. The attack set the mega tanks ablaze; one contained diesel fuel and another, aviation fuel.

Red Cross Symbol on Helicopters

There were also reports of clashes between NATO jets and Gaddafi helicopters earlier in the day. The
helicopters were marked with the Red Cross symbol and were seen over the harbor, placing naval mines
