Description
Glass fibre Reinforced Polyester pipes, popularly known as GRP pipes, are manufactured
from Polyester resins, fibrous glass reinforcements and inorganic filler. GRP pipe is a popular
material for the last 50 years. Because of light weight, the pipe is easily handled in confined
spaces and the excellent chemical resistance of the pipe material usually solves any problem
of aggressive effluent or septic sewer corrosion.
The extremely smooth internal surface of the pipe with Hazen William's coefficient as high
as 150 and Manning’s n 0.010 provides high flow capacity which contributes savings in the
capital cost of pump and energy over the project life. GRP pipes withstand pressure up to 1.4
times of its pressure class in case of surge, which is higher than conventional pipes.
