Grading Rubric: Next Idea Phase 1
Determining what is a good logo can often be very difficult, especially as the design of brand markings is
structured around producing an unconscious association. That said, there are a number of things | wil be
looking for:
1. Clatity: Can | read the logo at a distance? At a very small size? How easy isit to recognize quickly? 10%
2. Style: Thinking back over ihe early lecture on design principles, how well does your logo correspond to.
the principles of good visual design? 10%
3. Technical Difficulty: Black Times New Roman font on a white background takes very litle effort, so a
more technically difficult design will be rewarded. This isn't to steer you towards complexity (after all
simplicity is key in a brand). but if you do choose to go for a basic or minimal approach, make sure to
juslily your decision 10%
Home Page: a front page that introduces your company and provides o mission statement and maintains a
design consistent with your brand image. 15%
Mission Statement Evaluation:
Relationship: How well daes your logo convey the sense of your company?
Clarity: is the language concise and meaningful? 15%.
Meets news release objective 10%
Gives company prominent placement
Tailors news to local media
Makes sure headline is newsworthy
Covers most important facts in lead
Provides adequate company overview in boilerplate
Uses standard release design 10%
Uses complete information in letterhead
Follows guidelines for headiine/subhead
