CLASS-VIII SUB: PHYSICS & CHEMISTRY

1. Connect a battery of two cells of 1.5V each with LED using copper connecting wires as showin

Using this arrangement as a tester (FIG: A)

Dip the free ends A and B in different liquids (liquids given in following table) (FIG:B)

Observe if LED bulb glows/not glows. If the bulb glows then the liquid is a good conductor and if
not then it is a poor conductor. According to your observations fill the table given below:

2. Take two paper cups. Fill one cup half with water and keep the other empty.

Hold the two paper cups above the flame carefully.

(a) What do you observe?
(b) What do you conclude?
 ( Take help of the followingpictures)

3 Make a chart with colourful pictures of various things such as a car, a glass of water, a person
standing, a boy writing, a tailor stitching, someone cutting vegetables, a doctor giving an injection,
etc. Make acaptionunder each picture to say which type of force is applied, where the pressure is
being applied and write a few lines about it.
(At least 5 pictures on one chart paper)
(use only half chart paper)
4 It is said that the gravitational attraction on moon is one-sixth of the gravitational attraction on
earth. Find out the reason for this. Also find the force of gravitation of different planets as compared
to the earth.
5 Using grass cuttings, sand and gravel (any three different surfaces) make 50m long pathways on
road. Have a ride on bicycle on each path. Time yourself on each path. Play this game with your
friends. Give result of at least three friends. (In tabular form)

You need: a boiled egg (without shell), a glass bottle , a matchbox
Write your observations. Explain the reasons of your observation.
