(2) Lift up the propeller, and mount it on the propeller shaft. At this time, align the match marks on the aft end of the propeller boss and the propeller shaft with each other. (Allowable deviation :+ 10mm on shaft surface ) (8) Fit the hydraulic nut to the propeller shaft, and screw it until its bearing face comes into contact with the propeller boss. (4) Attach the thermometer to each of the propeller boss and the propeller shaft. (©) Fit the packing and connector in the boss expansion oil port in the propeller boss. (6) Connect the flexible tube to each of the boss expansion oil port in the propeller boss and the push-up oil port in the hydraulic nut. (7) Kit two dial gauges with magnetic holders on the propeller shaft near the propeller boss symmetrically with each other to the shaft center line. 2-3 Pushing-up (Refer to Fig.Land Fig.5) : (1) Measure the temporatures of tho boss and the shaft with thermometers. (2) Determine the required push-up length (X) for the measured temperatures of the boss and the shaft from Fig.3. (3) At first push-up the propeller by dry-fit method. i; In this operation, first close the valve@, open the valve®only, and raise the oil pressure in the hydraulic pump to about 5 MPa . At thin time, set the dial exage at waro, ( Zero votting of dial gauge ) ANS (4) Then, raise the oil pressure in the hydraulie pump every 5 MPa until the push-up length of the boss comes to about 2 mm on the dial gauge. (Dur this operation, record the push-up length and the corresponding oil presst Stop the pushing-up at the point “ B °, and release the oil pressure. (Completion of the initial pushing-up operation by dry-fit method. ) (5) Plot the relation between the oil pressure and the push-up length i and draw a straight line connecting the plotted points. ‘This line corresponds to the line “ A-B "shown in Fig.5. (6) Determine the zero deviation (Y) of the push-up travel and obtain the frictional coefficient at dry-fit in accordance with the method shown in Fig.5. (The frictional coefficient of dry-fit is about 0.13~0.15, If the frictional coefficient: is less than 0.13, re-fit the propeller boss after pulling-out the propeller boss and cleaning the contact surface between the propeller boss and the propeller shaft.) In practice, the propeller must be pushed-up until the dial gauge reads the value less by the zero deviation (Y ) than the required push-up length (X ). (7) Push-up the propeller by wet-fit mothod. In this operation, first open the valve@and®, and raise the oil pressure in the hydraulic pump to about 7 MPa . ‘Then, increase the oil pressure in the hydraulic pump intermittently so that the propeller boss moves onto the propeller shaft every about 1 ~ 2mm until the push-up length reach the point * I’ shown in Fig.5, (During this operation, record the push-up length and the corresponding oil pressures. ) (8) When the propeller boss has been pushed-up by the required push-up length, close the valve®), and release the oil pressure in the hydraulic pump. About five minutes later, open the valve®. (At this time, confirm that the push-up length does not change. ) ‘The pushing-up operation by wet-fit method is now over. displacement of the propeller can be found after the ship is p] (10) Remove the dial gauges, the flexible tubes and the connector. (11) Fit the plugs to the oil ports in the propeller boss and the hyd ¥ (12) Tighten the hydraulic nut as the following figure. ‘Tightening force (Torque) About 30 ~ 50 KN (About 16. \ Bydraulic nut 3, Pulling-out procedure : 8-1 Working equipment and instruments (Refer to Fig.2) No Description Quantity Remarks 1_| Hydraulic nut 1 2__| Hydraulic pump 1 3 Flexible tube 1 | With coupler 4 | Pressure gauge 1 5__| Connector a. (3) Loosen the hydraulic nut. (4) Place the wooden block for buffer ‘between the pYopollor and tho hydraulic nut. At this time, the clearance between ‘the wooden block and the propeller boss shall be about 35 mm. (5) Remove the plug from the boss expansion oil port in the propeller boss, and fit the connector with packing. (© Connect the flexible tube to the boss expansion oil port in the propeller boss. (@ Raise gradually the oil pressure in the hydraulic pump to about 65 MPa , and keep it for five minutes. sropeller is still not pulled-out, raise the oil pressure further 70MPa . is pulled-out midway through this operation.
