Present Infrastructure Presently We have an installed base of around 40 PC and 4 LapTop, one File Server and one Mail Server. Broadband is used for Mail Server and Sify on line internet connectivity is for all the other users. Structuring cabling has been set up recently, which is also partially pending in want of the Some Hardware. In the organization presently Foxbase off line application is working. In the near immediate future company is planning to implement Oracle ERP in the organization. Anti Virus-: Present In spite of massive computerisation and lot of dependency on the system and Aggressive internet uses, there is no Anti virus is installed on any system. This can lead to any disaster in future in the shape of data loss and work delay Recommendation So with a so much internet uses it is always advisable that some anti virus protection must be adopted other wise we are sitting just close to the furnace and any time any thing can happen, which can disturb our working. So keeping all the fact in mind I Have the following fact to share with the management. 1. 2. 3. 4. Outside media must be stopped on urgent basis. Such as pen drive, CD, DVD Genuine Internet user should be short listed and provided the internet access. Machine which are using internet must be installed with legal Anti Virus. Server client licence of desired number should be purchased on urgent basis.

One machine without network and one standalone Anti virus software to be kept in EDP, where if required outside media be tested and on finding virus free than the data to be mounted on users pc by EDP person. 6. Fireball is to be installed with designed policies for genuine access, Monitoring and gate way security of the net users for official and personal work. 7. One independent machine with proper Anti virus installed to be kept in the EDP Deptt.. Any person who has no internet access can get the slip signed from his Deptt head for specific access and forward the request to EDP. EDP will allot the time frame based on the availability of the machine and urgency of the requirement. If these guidelines are followed, at least we can be secure and health of the system will remain perfect.
