Teaching-learning activities 1) Teacher shows the picture of an island, beach and the scenery. 2) Teacher asks the student to observe the pictures and let them express their ideas regarding to the pictures.

Practise Step 1 (20 min)

Text 1) Get the students into four groups (the Whiteboard students will be divided into one Weak Marker pen group , two Moderate group and one Excellent group ). 2) Teacher gives out one text to each group. 3) The Weak group will do the Survey task They need to look for the title, introduction, conclusion and etc. 4) The 1st Moderate group will do the Question task They need to come out with questions regarding to the text. The

Teacher is recommended to use the SQ3R reading technique in this teaching process.

students might want to use the WH questions. 5) The 2nd Moderate group will do the Read task They need to read and find the answers right after the 1st Moderate group presented the questions. (the answers must be based on the questions raised by the 1st Moderate group). 6) The Excellent group will do the Recite task They need to read and do a summary based on the text. They must use their own words in conveying the idea. 7) The final task is Review this task involves every single group. Each group must come out with the main idea of the text and manage to summarise the story.

Step 2 (30 min)

1) Each group will send a representative to Pictures present on their task. Flash cards White board 2) The Weak group will do the mix and match activity. Marker pen 3) The 1st Moderate group will come forward and write the questions on the white board. 4) The 2nd Moderate group will try and answer the questions. 5) The Excellent group will do the summary by using their own words in conveying the idea. 6) Later on, all groups need to five the main points of the whole text that they have read. Teacher reviews the lesson for today.

This activity is to test on the students understanding in reading the text.
