    Agility Commands

    Here is a partial list of directional commands used in agility training. Remember, these are the verbal commands I use for my dogs. If you already use or have different verbal cues, feel free to use them. As long as you and your dog understand the meaning of each cue, it doesnt matter what you use.

    CloseDog comes into handlers right side SideDog comes into handlers left side Out- Dog moves to the right or left laterally away from handler (used when dog and handler are running side by side.) RightDog turns to the right (used when dog is ahead of handler.) LeftDog turns to the left (used when dog is ahead of handler.) TurnA 180 turn away from handler (U-turn) SwitchA 180 turn towards handler (U-turn) GoSends dog ahead of handler in straight line Come/HereDog moves towards handler BehindDog circles around handler from right to left AroundDog circles around handler from left to right Contact/Target- Dog drops head and touches nose to the ground (used for contact obstacles) Dogs NameDog should check in with handler (used to pull the dog off the obstacle its moving towards)
