ATHIRAPALLY HYDEL POWER PROJECT: FEASIBILITY AND FACTS : - A BRIEF ANALYSIS

Introduction

As a part of the Infosys soft skill program, the students who participated are required to do a project. The project is one of the most important phases of this wonderful initiative nearing to its completion. We had undergone intensive training in various topics like Group Discussion, Team Work, Communication skill etc. as a part of this program. The project should be considered as a platform to build up with what we have learned. It should help us to implement the acquired skills in real life, moreover we should be able to evaluate our self; to analyze where, we stand right now and to understand how we can improve.

Project Title: Athirapally hydel power project: Feasibility and Facts:-A Brief Analysis

We are aware that Athirapally hydel power project is a highly debated topic. The Environmental Ministry and Kerala State Government are literally fighting over this

proposal. The KSEB and Environmentalists view this issue in a different manner. As engineering students, this project is of great importance to us. We should take interest in making an attempt to know what the actual problems are. So a brief study about the project, along with a visit to the site will help us to view the problem in different angles and take our understanding to a new level.

Project Objectives
1. To collect all data related to Athirapally project from news reports that came in newspapers and visual media. 2. To study the project proposal submitted by the state government. 3. To visit the project site; meet the concerned officials, local people and environmentalists associated with this issue. 4. To list the facts and analyze feasibility 5. To publish a final study report.
