TheMMCdoesnotmakeaprofitfromtheCSAprogram,butUnderwoodFarms continuestodonatetoSDFSAaswellasotherMMCprojectssuchasthe garden/nutritioneducationprojectsatCohassetelementaryschool. 7.2AthleticsProject TheMensandWomensBasketballteams,throughtheMOUwiththeAthletics Department,havehadbodycompositiontestingviatheBodPod3timessinceFall 2010.AsDr.GilbertisteachingFCS608intheFall2011semester,itmaybe possibletoidentifyastudent(s)toanalyzethisdataforthesiswork.TheStrategic PlanningCommitteewilllookatwaystomarkettheBodPodtothecommunity. 7.3NutritionCollegeBowl FormerADAPresidentsMartyYadrickandDorisDerelianwerethisyears moderators.BoardmembersRalphJacobson,EmilyBursonandLouRubino participatedasscorekeepersandJudge.JaeMinMandalaprovidedsodasforthe event.Dr.ClaudiaFajardoputtheMMCincontactwithvariousFoodSciencejudges. 10.0FinancialReport 10.1FinancialReport 10.2BudgetProposal201112 BudgetpresentedtotheBoardwasactualasofFebruary2011.TheBoardmade suggestionsregardingthelineitemsusedwhichhavebeenamendedontheBudget proposal.TheMMCreceivedtwofederalgrantsfromUSDAandHUD.TheMMCwill begintolookatgrantsfromfoundationsoutsideoftheDrownFoundation,including FederalGrantsandindividualdonors.TheMMCwillhostadonorsreceptionin December.AsofFebruary,theUniHealthgrantisstillpending.TheMMCExecutive Director,AssociateDirectorandAdministrativeSupportpositionswillreceivea4% payincrease.TheMMCcoveredthecostofavisitingprofessorfortheFCS DepartmentandtheprofessorwillwritequestionsforfutureNutritionCollege Bowls.

9.0StrategicPlan/ABProgramofWork/BusinessFocus Themostrecentplanofworkwillbeupdatedpriortothenextmeeting. 11.0ProfessionalEducation 11.1ADAProfessionalDevelopmentTeleSeminars TheMMCcontinuestoreachouttocommunitydietitians.Theproblemisgetting themtoCSUN.TheMMCwilllookatwaystofacilitatetheseminars.TheFCSfaculty isalsolookingatwaystoaccustomnutritionstudentstoattendtheseseminars. 11.2ServSafeTrainingProgram ThenextServSafeexamwilltakeplaceonJuly16th.Thereisnodefinitenumber fromCRA,butitmaybearound1020students.TheMMCcontinuestoworkwith theUniversityCorporation,providingthecourseandexamtothefoodservice employeesoncampus.ServSafeisavoluntaryexamforfoodhandlers,buttheCA FoodHandlercertificatewillbemandatoryforallfoodhandlersinthestate. AnatolaElementarywillbethenextschoolthattheHUDGrantwillworkwith startinginSpring2012. 8.3UniHealthGrant TheUniHealthGrantwillextendtheUSDAGrantprojectonceitendsin2012. 8.4CDCGrant TheCDCGrantwillserveHispanicandunderservedcommunities.Theprojectwill tieinmultiplecommunityagenciesandCSUNdepartments.Theprojectwillaimto takecurrentprogramsandstreamlinethem.StanfordandHarvardareother applicants,butsinceCSUNservesalargerHispaniccommunity,theoddsof receivingthegrantaregood.Thegrantamountis5.75milliondollars. 8.5McKessonFoundationLOI TheMcKessonFoundationLetterofIntentwassubmitted.Theprojectwilllookat assessingtheeffectivenessofmobilehealthtoolsinregardstoDiabeticeducation.
