Write an essay discussing what should be done about youth violence (300 words). To overcome the increasing problem with unprovoked youth violence, we should take a look at how we dealt with it back in the times before oestrogen-oozing pedagogical and political correctness went over the top in 1987. That was the year the press succeeded with its character assassination of Skipper Mogens Frohn Nielsen, captain of the training schooner Fulton - Probably the most successful rehabilitation programme for criminal and misfit youths ever. All the wanna-be-psychologist social workers just couldnt handle that he did what was not prescribed in their clever books by Habermas and what they could only dream of, by exercising discipline on his ship and not refraining from slapping the puppies as he lovingly called them, whenever they deserved it. And many of them undoubtedly deserved much worse punishment on occasions Keelhauling for instance, as one rehabilitated and thankful former puppy said, praising his old Skipper. Mogens Frohn Nielsen was not a hot-headed, violent man: Those breaking the ships rules usually got the choice between a slap in the face here-and-now or a period of quarters arrest or some other disciplinary measure. They almost always preferred the slap, even if they had been slapped before. Well, times have changed irreversibly, physical punishment, however benign, is definitely a thing of the past, the Fulton project no longer exists and Skipper is dead. I propose we honour his memory by giving young men who committed crimes of violence the choice between -not a slap in the face or quarters arrest - but between prison time with a stain on their rap sheet or two years probation in the military -On a reduced but reasonable salary with the same possibilities of education as other soldiers, to prove themselves worthy of going on with military or civilian life and a clean rap sheet.
