Adding notes or text above or below the dimension line

Issue You want to add notes or text above or below the dimension line, in addition to the dimension text. Solution Use the \X switch to add notes or text above or below the dimension line, in addition to the dimension text.

To use the \X switch: 1. Type ddedit on the command line and press ENTER, or from the Modify menu, choose Text. 2. Select an existing dimension. 3. In the Multiline Text Editor, angle brackets ( <> ) display indicating that the default dimension text is used. 4. To place a note or text below the dimension line use the following syntax: <>\XNote goes here

To place the a note or text above the dimension line use the following syntax:

Note goes here\X<> Important: The X must be upper case. Note: The angle brackets represent the default dimension text; changing them will alter the dimension text. 5. Enter the note or text before or after the \X as shown in the preceding examples. 6. Choose OK to exit the dialog. This procedure does not alter any dimension variables.
