alginate gel with enzymes that kill absorbed bacteria1

Flaminal Hydro or Flaminal Forte?

Mild to moderately exuding wounds Moderate to heavily exuding wounds Flaminal Hydro as exudate reduces Flaminal Forte

Flaminal Hydro has 3.5% alginate gel. Flaminal Forte has 5.5% alginate gel.

Apply the gel

(a) First clean and rinse the wound as you would normally (b) Dab dry carefully (c) Apply a thick layer (5mm) of either Flaminal Hydro or Flaminal Forte to the wound in a sterile manner

Dress the wound

Dress according to the amount of exudate. Choose an absorbent dressing for wetter wounds. On drier wounds, use one that reduces evaporation and prevents the wound from drying out. Heavy exudate Absorbing, non-adherent compress xed by a bandage or tape Non-woven gauze with a bandage or adhesive plaster Light exudate Transparent lm (polyurethane) or parafn gauze with a bandage

Change the dressing

In yellow/sloughy or necrotic wounds, Flaminal should be changed every 12 days. In drier/granulating wounds, Flaminal should be changed every 34 days. The dressing can stay in place for as long as the gel structure is intact: 14 days, depending upon the amount of exudate.
