LORD EMSWORTH AND THE GIRLFRIEND By P. G.

Wodehouse I choose short story Lord Emsworth and the Girlfriend written by P. G. Wodehouse. It is a non-fiction story. The theme for this story is about self. This short story is take place in Blanding Castle and Blanding Parva Village in England. The time on this story is only known as first Monday in August. The main character in this short story is Clarence, Lord Emsworth. The other characters are Lady Constance Keeble, Angus McAllister, Gladys, Ernest and Beach. Lord Emsworth is a rich man who lives in Blanding castle. He has a thin body. He is a shy and lack of confident in his self. Gladys is a young girl aged 13 years old. She is from London. She is kind and caring girl. She took care of his brother all the time. She is also a brave girl. She threw a stone to Angus McAllister on his leg. Lady Constance is Lord Emsworths sister. She always forces his brother to do the things that he did not like. Angus McAllister is Head Gardener in Blanding Castle. He is arrogant. Ernest is Gladyss brother and he has small body. He bit Lady Constance on her leg. Beach is Lord Emsworths Butler. This story is about Lord Emsworth who is not confident in his self but when he met with Gladys and his brother he was surprised with their braveness and from that he learn how to be a brave man. Finally he managed to fight back with Angus McAllister. There is a funny part in the party when Lord Emsworth wants to take off his top hat because it is too hot and suddenly a small cake flying through the air and took it off for him. He just smile and went slowly towards the way out.

The moral values in this short story are we must be confident in ourselves. We also must take a good care and help the orphan children. Other than that, we have to respect other people who are older than us. In this story, there is no illustration. The language used in this story is quite an old English and there is some London accent that been used by character Gladys. I would like to recommend this short story to all ages especially to the teenagers. From this story they can get the self confident in their life. It is also an interesting and funny story to read by other people.
