VILLAGE OF GLEN EWEN RATEPAYERS Meeting held October 27th, 2011 CHANGES THAT YOU NEED TO BE AWARE OF:

1) GARBAGE AND RECYCLING Due to increased costs and garbage not being placed in its designated spot, that effective December 1st Regens Disposal will remove the 2 bins that were to be used for household garbage and the big red bin for other storage. The green recycling bin will remain in its original place, but if anything is there other than recycling, it too may be removed. Each resident will be provided with a 96 gallon garbage can for waste and this will be picked up weekly on Wednesday. Each resident will be charged $9.00/month, and this will be added to your water and sewer bill every 3 months. Anything other than household garbage can be hauled to the Town of Oxbow landfill and you will be charged a fee for disposal. A list of fees is available at the Village Office. The landfill winter hours, effective November 1st are Fridays 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday 10:30 to 2:30 p.m. All metals are to be taken to the metal collection site, west of Oxbow, right off of Highway 18. 2) SNOWBLOWING Snow blowing has always been provided by R.J. Burnett with the use of his tractor and the Villages snow blower. We have advertised for a person to replace Jim, but have had no applications. The grading of snow may have to be supplied by the R.M. of Enniskillen No. 3 graders, which means that you will be left with a ridge in front of your driveway, as the graders have no place to push the snow and as well, all vehicles must be off the street during these times. 3) DOGS RUNNING AT LARGE If you have a problem with a dog(s) in your yard, we would ask that if you know whose dog(s) it is and you have spoken to this person regarding same and it hasnt helped, then please take a photo of the dog(s) and bring it to the Village Office. A RCMP Bylaw Infraction report will be filled out and forwarded to the RCMP, so that they may enforce the Village fine for dogs running at large. The first fine is $50.00. The second fine is $100.00 and the third fine is $150.00. DOGS MUST BE ON A LEASH! 4) WATER AND SEWER ARREARS We are in the process of working with the Municipal Board to add penalties onto water and sewer accounts that are not paid at the end of their 3 month billing period. If approved, the penalty will be in effect for December 31st of this year. 5) VOLUNTEERS Volunteers are needed in the Village, as we do not have town employees. If you feel that you can help with outside jobs throughout the village, please leave your name and phone number at the Village Office.

The Village does pay an hourly amount to each volunteer and if you do not wish to keep your cheque, you can sign it back to the Village and a general receipt will be issued to you as an income tax deduction.
