Garamond brand name was inspired by the 16th centurys top engraver and designer Claude Garamond who designed the first technically and aesthetically comprehensive Greek typographic font. The company was established in 1993 as a joint action of two companies owned by Vangelis Pispas and Chrysa Krokida respectively. In 1997, in the form of a joint venture with considerable investment in human resources, equipment and technical infrastructure, options for undertaking projects were broadened. As a result, Garamond design today holds an important position in the Greek design market.
