India offers USD 250-mn Iine of credit to Ecowas

Abuja, Oct 15 ndia today offered to extend a line of credit of USD 250 million for the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
t has also decided to increase the scholarships for Nigerian students for education and research in ndia from 50 to 75, Nalin Surie, Secretary (West) in the
External Affairs Ministry, told reporters after talks Prime Minister Manmohan Singh held with his Nigerian counterpart here.
During the discussions, ndia has offered to extend a line of credit of USD 250 million for the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and
another USD 100 million for use in supply of agricultural and industrial equipment from ndia, he said.
ndia has also agreed to set up a technology village in Abuja on the request of Nigeria, which was looking forward to cooperation in the area, Surie said.
ndia has declared its intention to renew its cooperative partnership with Africa and upgrade its content with a view to meeting contemporary African
requirements.
The Nigerian side expressed its appreciation for ndia's consistent and longstanding support to Africa and to African causes and conveyed its happiness at
ndia's intention to host an ndia-Africa Forum summit in April next year. PT
