Self-Directed Materials
The IIAs CIA Learning System combines printed materials and interactive online software. These tools have been designed to teach and reinforce the entire global CIA syllabus in a concise, easy to understand format. Selfstudy materials include: Print Materials Four print modules that correspond to the four parts of the CIA exam. Content includes the entire global CIA exam syllabus. Topics were updated in July 2010 to align with international professional practices. Interactive Software Pre-tests identify which topics require intensive study. Section quizzes test comprehension and retention of concepts. Post-tests gauge knowledge gained and identify areas requiring further study. eFlashcards and glossary offer review of key terms and definitions. CIA Practice Exams build confidence with the computer -based CIA exam software. Progress reports track activities and scores.

Printed Materials
Printed Books
The printed books, which are spiral bound to make studying easier, follow the CIA exam syllabus by addressing all the CIA exam topics found within the Sections for each Part of the exam. There are more than 1,100 pages of comprehensive information intended to teach The IIA CIA exam syllabus. The books are used in many companies as a baseline professional development tool, in addition to a certification preparation tool, because they are a comprehensive overview of The IIA Standards and the practice of the Internal Audit across the world.

The printed materials are graphically rich, easy to use, and linked directly to every practice question found in the online software.
Printed Books
The printed materials follow the CIA exam syllabus nearly identically. The sections are weighted the same way the exam is weighted and the topics are taught to the same Proficiency and Awareness levels on which they are tested (as depicted by Level A and Level P in the sample table of contents, below).
Interactive Online Study Tools
Online Menu
The online study tools help learners to apply the concepts learned in the printed materials and test their understanding and retention of the topics. Quizzes and tests prepare the user for the CIA exam, providing immediate feedback and additional guidance. They are also timed to help individuals gauge whether they are answering questions at an adequate pace. Purchasers of the full, four-part program have access to the online tools for two years. Purchasers of an individual part have access for one year. All interactive online study tools can be accessed at www.LearnCIA.com.
Pre-test
Pre-tests are made up of 50 questions covering all CIA topics as weighted by the CIA exam. Answers are identified as correct or incorrect and rationale is provided for the correct answer as well as reference to the corresponding section in the training materials for follow-up. The pre-test results will identify the users strengths and weaknesses, allowing the individual to focus their attention where its most needed. After completing the course, pre-test scores will be compared to post-test scores in the Reports section to show knowledge and skills have improved.
The rationale refers participants to the specific section in the text that outlines the topic.

Quizzes
After reading each section in the printed materials, users are encouraged to test their understanding and retention of the topics by completing a quick quiz (10 questions) or extended quiz (all questions pertaining to each section). Quizzes are timed and provide immediate feedback with correct answer identification, rationale, and reference to the appropriate section in the printed materials.
Flashcards
Users can test their knowledge of important terms and definitions with online flashcards. Printable versions of the flashcards are available in the Resource Center.

Post-test
Post-tests include 100 questions taken from all topics throughout the course part, as weighted by the CIA exam. The post-test is timed, provides immediate feedback, rationale, and reference to the appropriate section in the printed materials for additional review. After completing the pretest, users can visit the Reports to see a comparison of their pretest and post-test scores to evaluate their progress throughout the course.
CIA Practice Exam

The CIA Practice Exam was designed to help CIA candidates gain comfort and experience with the format and functionality of the computer-based CIA exam. This 100 question exam is timed and users must complete the exam in one 2-hour, 45-minute sitting. Users can flag questions for review and skip and return to questions later in the exam. Instructional feedback is not provided as this is considered an exam simulation. Following the exam, users can review their incorrect/correct questions.

Resource Center
Program updates, test-taking tips, printable flashcards, related links, reference material, and feedback forms are available on the Resource Center.
Reports
Best Test Scores report provides a summary of all quiz/text/exam scores. Users can look at each attempt and review the questions that were answered incorrectly. Pre-/Post-Test Comparison reviews the users pre and post-test scores by section to gauge knowledge gain.

Class Formats: Comprehensive - In this format, the entire body of knowledge is covered from start to finish. Users are responsible for some independent study, especially if there is a time lag between the end of class and when they sit for the exam or if they have a fundamental weakness in a topic area(s). The minimum amount of course instruction time for this format is: Part 1 15-20 hours Part 2 15-20 hours Part 3 24-31 hours Part 4 9 hours The Comprehensive course is very thorough. Its often offered by individual part so candidates can schedule their exams shortly after the conclusion of class before moving on to the next Part. The course can also be offered over two full weeks so that additional time can be spent on the highest risk areas. Refresher- In this format, only the topic areas identified in the users group reports are covered. Students must complete the independent self study before class so that the instructor can customize the agenda based on the needs of the class. Because the class is customized for the exact needs of the participants, this course can be shortened from the Comprehensive format. Generally, we see the course duration as: Part 1 8 hours Part 2 8 hours Part 3 16 hours Part 4 4 hours This format works well if you are hosting a week long training event for your employees. They can choose between the four courses (Parts 1-4) as well as other training programs offered in the program.

Can The IIAs CIA Learning System be shared with multiple candidates? No. The IIAs license agreement allows for one user per set of materials. In addition, the online reports users access throughout their studies are designed to give specific feedback based on the users specific strengths and weaknesses. Multiple users taking practice exams under the same login would result in a combination of testing results and be unbeneficial for all. Can I access the online software from multiple computers? Yes, and not just from computers. You can access the online software at learncia.com from any Internet capable device (i.e. laptop, desktop, ipad, Blackberry, etc.) from around the world. What is the main difference between the Self-Study materials and the Instructor-Led courses? The Instructor-Led courses combine the Self-Study print and online components with the leadership of a qualified instructor. The qualified instructor enhances the learning environment by presenting the subject matter, facilitating interactive discussion, sharing real world examples, and being an on-going resource for professional development. The instructor-led course materials also include a supplemental workbook of the instructors power point slides. What is the best way to fit the Comprehensive Instructor-Led Courses into our busy work schedule? The four parts to the IIAs CIA Learning system can be scheduled over a period of time by each of its 4 parts. For example, dedicating one week twice a year, a couple days per month, or a couple days per quarter are just some ways the course can be scheduled.
