In this case, there is a traditions when they held reunion, it like Ruth mother started fermenting jars of spicy turnips. There is also, in the fourth paragraph in page 36. In this part, Ruth used her own style to buy a flower. She chose the flowers selectively, she considered anything include the price before she decided to buy the flowers. finally she decided to buy flowers that didn't need any particular treatment and of course these flowers has a memory of auntie Gal. In the part four page 82, it is told us about the Full Moon Festival, for Ruth it is not just an ordinary dinner but it is considered as Chinese thanksgiving. In this reunion not only invite family but also any relatives that remain together trough the years. There is a the differences appetite between American and Chinese. There is jellyfish that Ruth didnt like it and there is also tofu with pickled greens and of course sea cucumbers Auntie Gals favorite. In the full moon festival, Ruth gave her brief speech. This is about philosophy of life and family on the page 90. There is difference perspective between Lu ling and Ruth. It is about right. Lu ling told that Ruth shouldnt smoked, but Ruth did it. Ruth pretended that she could do anything she want. She was thought with American style, she has a right to do anything as long it is no bother anyone.
