Nostradamus

Nostradamus Nostradamus, (December 14, 1503 July 1, 1566) born Michel de Nostredame, is one of the world's most famous authors of prophecies. He is most famous for his book Les Propheties, which consists of rhymed quatrains (4-line poems) grouped into sets of 100, called Centuries. Nostradamus enthusiasts have credited him with predicting a copious number of events in world history, including the French Revolution, the atom bomb, the rise of Adolf Hitler and the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Center. Detractors, however, see such predictions as examples of vaticinium ex eventu, retroactive clairvoyance and selective thinking, which find non-existent patterns in ambiguous statements. Because of this, it has been claimed that Nostradamus is "100% accurate at predicting events after they happen".

NOSTRADAMUS: HIS IMAGINED LIFE

Allan Lang (Investigator 12, 1990 May)

On August 27 1989 the Seven Network presented a program: Nostradamus: The Final Chapter? This program was advertised as a first release feature, although it recycled considerable material from a 1979 Nostradamus program, The introductory sequence had a subtitle 'France 1791' and showed a number of soldiers digging up a grave.

The narrator spoke; "There was a legend that whoever drank from the skull of Nostradamus would inherit his incredible powers. But for 200 years his grave had remained undisturbed because the legend also said that whoever did so, would immediately die. One night, at the height of the French Revolution, three drunken soldiers set out to test the legend.

It was not the skeleton that suddenly sobered the soldiers, but the plaque around its neck, with the date: May 1791, which could only have been placed there at the time of burial in 1566, Nostradamus had predicted, 200 years before, the exact date when his body would be dug up."

Anyway one of the soldiers poured some wine into the skull and took a swig. As he did so, a shot rang out, and he dropped, dead as well as drunk. John Waters, who fronted this program (and also the 1979 edition), appeared (in his 1979 incarnation) and said;

"The shot that killed that soldier was fired from the riot of the surrounding French Revolution. A stray bullet. A freak accident that fulfilled the legend of Nostradamus. Nostradamus. What kind of a man was he, who predicted the date of the desecration of his own grave?"

Nostradamus Predictions That Came True

He is not just any tarot card reader or some astrologer who might predict right or wrong. He was one of the greatest French apothecary and also a reputed seer, who, hundreds of years back, in the 16th century, made predictions of what will happen hundreds of years later, i.e. in the 20th and 21st century, and later too. He had predicted the Great French Revolution, the assassination of Kennedy, the 9/11 attacks, and he had also made several predictions which are yet to occur in the future, such as the third world war. He is none other than Michel de Nostredame. How great a person can be who was able to predict things that will happen hundreds of years later. If you want to see for yourself whether or not his predictions came true, given below is a list of Nostradamus predictions that came true. But before that, let us first see who Nostradamus was. Michel de Nostredame (1503 - 1566) Michel de Nostredame, or Nostradamus, was a famous French apothecary and also a wellknown seer, whose prophecies and psychic predictions have become known worldwide because of his book Les Propheties or 'The Prophecies'. He earned the reputation of being the most famous psychic and seer, when he had knelt in front of a Franciscan monk and had addressed him as "Your Holiness". Several years later, after the death of the great seer, this same monk became Pope Sixtus V. Nostradamus, in 1555, began his career as a prophet for the first time. It was during this period that he wrote down his first collection of centuries, i.e. a set of 100 quatrains. Over the next few years, he wrote down a total of at least 10 centuries. Now you might ask what is a quatrain? It's a poem with 4 lines. Nostradamus' quatrains were rhythmic and they were mainly written in French, with traces of Italian, Latin and Greek here and there. He used various symbols and metaphors in his quatrains, in order to avoid being tried as a magician. Now let's take a look at some of the Nostradamus predictions that have come true.

Nostradamus TOP 9 WORLD Predictions The prediction that actually made Nostradamus famous was his reference to a Franciscan monk as 'His Holiness', and who later became Pope Sixtus V. Here are some of the other predictions that followed this one. (1) "Volcanic fire from the center of the earth will cause trembling around the new city: Two great rocks will make war for a long time. Then Arethusa will redden a new river. In the year 1999, in the seventh month, from the sky will come the great King of Terror, bringing back to life the great King of the Mongols. Before and after, Mars to reign by good fortune." In this prediction, the 'Two Great Rocks' refer to the United States and their fight against terrorism. The 'New City' is a reference to New York, while 'Volcanic fire from the center of the earth' is the Twin Towers burning and falling to the ground. Also, it is widely believed that 'Arethusa' is an anagram that is used to refer to Bin Laden.

(2) Napoleon's Rise "PAU, NAY, LORON will be more of fire than of the blood, To swim in praise, the great one to flee to the confluence. He will refuse entry to the Piuses, The depraved ones and the Durance will keep them imprisoned." Here, Nostradamus has directly predicted the rise of Napoleon, and says that he will have 'more of fire than blood'. If the alphabets 'PAU NAY LORON' are unscrambled, they read as Napoleon Roy or Napoleon Bonaparte. He rightly predicted that Napoleon would go on to be one of the greatest emperors that France ever had.

Napoleon Bonaparte (1769 - 1821)

(3) Henry II's Death "The young lion will overcome the older one, On the field of combat in a single battle; He will pierce his eyes through a golden cage, Two wounds made one, then he dies a cruel death." (Century 1, Quatrain 35) The year was 1559. Nostradamus' predictions were ignored by Henry II, and the latter took part in a jousting tournament against Comte de Montgomery (six years younger than Henry II). Both of them had shields which was embossed with the lion. During the final fight, Montgomery's lance, which he failed to lower at the right time, shattered. A piece of it went through the King's gilded visor (Golden cage), which resulted in two wounds, as per Nostradamus' predictions; one spliced his eye, while the other pierced his temple, just behind his eye. His brain was penetrated by both the splinters. For 10 days, the King underwent intolerable pain, and then died a cruel death. So, one of the great seer's predictions comes true.

(4) London Fire In this prophecy, Nostradamus predicted the exact year of the Great Fire at London. "The blood of the just will be demanded of London, Burnt by the fire in the year 66" (Century 2; Quatrain 51) 2nd September, 1666. One single spark burnt down entire Medieval London, the city of Shakespeare. London burned for 5 days and after the fire was controlled, 1 miles by mile was completely turned into ashes. 87 churches were destroyed and 13,200 houses were burned down. Though Nostradamus had predicted that "blood of the just will be demanded", only 6 people had died though. Some, however, see this prediction of 'blood of the just' (translated from French) as the justice which was done to the Black Death or the plague that had killed many in Europe. The fire had done a great service by killing the rats that were the carriers of this plague. Thus, 'blood of the just'.

(5) French Revolution Several quatrains have been found that predict the French Revolution which had taken place in the 18th century. Here are some of those quatrains. "From the enslaved people, songs, chants and demands, The princes and lords are held captive in prisons: In the future by such headless idiots These will be taken as divine utterances." "Before the war comes, The great wall will fall, The King will be executed, his death coming too soon will be lamented. (The guards) will swim in blood, Near the River Seine the soil will be bloodied." July 14th, 1789. The symbol to the detested monarchy, the prison of Bastille, was stormed by the French people. The Storming of Bastille, marked the beginning of the French Revolution. The revolution started the rise and fall of the guillotine, which was located on the banks of River Seine. Thus, Nostradamus' prediction that 'the guards will swim in blood...will be bloodied', came true. The French Revolution only made Nostradamus' name as a seer, even more popular. He had predicted the French Revolution 200 years before it actually occurred.

(6) HITLER

Beasts ferocious with hunger will cross the rivers, The greater part of the battlefield will be against Hister. Into a cage of iron will the great one be drawn, When the child of Germany observes nothing.
(Century 2, Quatrain 24)

In the year very not far from Venus, The two greatest ones of Asia and of Africa: They are said to have come from the Rhine and from Hister Cries, tears at Malta and the Ligurian sea-coast.
(Century 4, Quatrain 68)

Liberty will not be regained, It will be occupied by a black, proud, villainous and unjust man: When the matter of the Pontiff is opened, The republic of Venice will be vexed by Hister.
(Century 5, Quatrain 29)

The shocking and infamous armed one will fear the great furnace, First the chosen one, the captives not returning: The world's lowest crime, the Angry Female Irale (Israel?) not at ease, Barb, Hister, Malta, and the Empty One does not return.
(From Nostradamus' Almanac of 1557)

Some say that Nostradamus had misspelled Hitler's name here. If we look into the Dictator's past, he was born to poor parents, and his powerful speeches moved many, and also his alliance with Japan proved that his fame will increase towards the east to be true. Nostradamus followers claim that the name "Hister" is a direct reference to Hitler. Another quatrain refers to a ruthless leader born in Western Europe, to poor parents (as Hitler was), and yet another one refers to Hister's conflict with Asia and Africa. "Beasts ferocious from hunger will swim across rivers: The greater one will cause it to be dragged in an iron cage When the Germany child will observe nothing." The 'beast' is interpreted as Adolf Hitler and the German army, crossing over to capture France. The 'iron cage' might probably refer to Hitler's tanks, which the great seer did not know what it was called hundreds of years back. Thus, these are some of the Nostradamus predictions that came true, and the prediction of the Second World War and the rise of Hitler, is one of his greatest predictions of all time. The whole population will take refuge under the Great Line The people of London took refuge in London Underground station in use as an air-raid shelter

(7 )

Francisco Franco
From Castille, Franco will bring out the assembly, The ambassador will not agree and cause a schism: The people of Rivera will be in the crowd, And they will refuse entry into the Gulf
(Century 9, Quatrain 16)

Spanish dictator Francisco Franco and his predecessor, Primo de Rivera, are mentioned outright. In 1936, the leftist-leaning Republican government had Franco exiled to the Canary Islands. He later returned to Spain and organized a military junta. Spain was torn apart by a full-scale civil war.

(8) Death of the Kennedy Brothers "The great man will be struck down in the day by a thunderbolt, An evil deed foretold by the bearer of a petition. Another falls at nighttime. Conflict at Reins, London and a pestilence in Tuscany." (Century 1, Quatrain 27)

In the year 1963, U.S. President, John. F. Kennedy was shot down by the thunderbolt (gunshot) at 12 noon. His brother Robert Kennedy was shot at 1 am in the morning after 5 years (another falls at nighttime). In the same year of 1963, students rioted in the cities of London and Paris, and there was a huge flood in Florence in 1968, which led to fear of plague or pestilence in the city.

(9) Death of Princess Diana "The penultimate of the surname of Prophet Will take Diana [Thursday] for his day and rest: He will wander because of a frantic head, And delivering a great people from subjection." (Century 2, Quatrain 28) Princess Diana's boyfriend Dodi Al-Fayed was the son of a person named 'Mohammad' (The Prophet). That was not his surname, but still. Some translations also say "will take Diana for her day of rest". This probably indicates her death and the rest that she got forever from the paparazzi. "His day of rest" indicates the Sunday, the day when Princess Diana and Dodi died. It may also indicate that the day when she dies was seen as a public holiday. Several parts of UK were closed down that time, as a mark of respect for the much beloved Princess. The people of UK are known to be emotionally reserved. But the death of their beloved Princess rocked not only UK but the entire world. Everyone mourned the death of Princess Diana. Thus "Delivering a great people from ruin". People from various cultures, from various backgrounds and countries, came together to mourn her death.

Out of the country of Greater Arabia Shall be born a strong master of Mohammed, He will enter Europe wearing a blue turban. He will be the terror of mankind. Never more horror. Here, Nostradamus says that a man from Greater Arabia from the Kingdom of Mohammad (SAUDI ARABIA) will lead his forces on an invasion through Europe. This invasion will start a third World War that will be far worse than all the other wars put together.

The war will last seven and twenty years. (so 27 years) Nostradamus says that the war will be so terrible that the world will come face to face with final annihilation. Here, he implies that the war might involve some kind of horrible weapon, possibly Nuclear. Nostradamus tells what the first target will be. The sky will burn at forty-five degrees. Fire approaches the Great New City. In this phrase, Nostradamus refers to a great city in the new world of America near forty-five degrees latitude. Experts agree this could only be New York. I know many of you are thinking of other websites that claim this means he predicted September 11th. Again, interpret it how you will. The sky did burn at 45 degrees, but New York was not destroyed, nor was it a nuclear attack. The New City will be Destroyed by Nuclear Weapon. By fire he will destroy their city, A cold and cruel heart, Blood will pour, Mercy to none. Although Nostradamus 's predictions for our future sound frightening, the accuracy and dates he gave do not seem to flow. Are they being misinterpreted, or are they

just plain wrong? Is the New City at 45 degrees yet to be destroyed? He does give us some hope by telling us how this third world war will end. He says it will end as a result of an unexpected alliance.

When those of the Northern Pole are united, In the East will be great fear and dread... One day the two great leaders will be friends; Their great powers will be seen to grow. The New Land will be at the height of its power: To the man of blood the number is reported. Again, the new land was a common term used by Nostradamus to refer to what we now call America. The countries of the northern pole could be Russia and the United States. We have recently seen the breakdown of Communism in Russia and an increasing friendship between Russia and the U.S. Perhaps the two countries will work together against the source of evil.

Saudi Crown Prince Sultan dies

By Angus McDowall DUBAI | Sat Oct 22, 2011 2:37pm EDT DUBAI (Reuters) - Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Sultan has died, the royal court said on Saturday, and Interior Minister and reputed conservative Prince Nayef was expected to become the new heir to the throne in the world's biggest oil exporter.

Saudi prince warns against any attack on Iran

WASHINGTON | Tue Nov 15, 2011 5:51pm EST WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A military attack on Iran aimed at halting its nuclear program could have catastrophic consequences and only strengthen Tehran's determination to make an atomic weapon, the former head of Saudi Arabia's intelligence services said on Tuesday.

Prince Hints Saudi Arabia May Join Nuclear Arms Race

By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS Published: December 6, 2011

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) A Saudi prince, in a remark designed to send chills through the Obama administration and its allies, suggested that the kingdom might consider producing nuclear weapons if it found itself between atomic arsenals in Iran and Israel. The prince, Turki al-Faisal, who has served as the Saudi intelligence chief and as ambassador to the United States, made the comment on Monday at a Persian Gulf security forum in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The remark confirmed Western fears about the potential for an arms race in the Middle East if Iran moves to produce a nuclear weapon. But it also reflected the hardening views among the Persian Gulfs Arab states that they must rely on themselves and not just on Western protection as tensions with Iran grow worse. Kuwaiti authorities are pressing ahead with several prosecutions against people accused of being Iranian spies, and Bahrains rulers contend that a cell linked to Iran sought to attack the Saudi Embassy. Meanwhile, the United Arab Emirates is close to finishing a pipeline that would carry oil directly to Indian Ocean shipping lanes, bypassing the choke point at the Strait of Hormuz, which Iran has at times threatened to shut off to shipping. In meetings last week, Arab envoys from the gulf agreed to study proposals to pool their military forces into a regional command, in an apparent reply to Irans expanding land and sea powers. Prince Turki said at the forum on Monday that an Iranian quest for nuclear weapons and Israels presumed nuclear arsenal might force Saudi Arabia to follow suit. Most defense analysts believe that Israel has nuclear weapons, but it has refused to confirm or deny their existence. It is our duty toward our nation and people to consider all possible options, including the possession of these weapons, Prince Turki was quoted as saying.
A version of this article appeared in print on December 7, 2011, on page A8 of the New York edition with the headline: Prince Hints Saudi Arabia May Pursue Nuclear Arms.

Saudi Prince's plan to buy Weapons of Mass Destruction to put the West in a spot
08 December 2011 By Deepak Rangan The prince of Saudi Arabia, Turki bin Faisal, has called for his Crude Oil rich country to acquire Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) so as to ensure that Iran and Israel's nuclear ambitions do not threaten his nation's security. Saudi Arabia is the worlds largest producer and exporter of crude oil in the world and as such, the latest statement is sure to put both Europe and the US in a tight spot.

If our efforts and the efforts of the world community fail to bring about the dismantling of the Israeli arsenal of nuclear, chemical and biological weapons and preventing Iran from acquiring the same, then why shouldnt we at least study seriously all available options, including acquiring WMDs, so that our future generations will not blame us for neglecting any courses of action that will keep looming dangers away from us, the prince said in a conference.

With the US increasing its sanctions over Iran over its alleged nuclear weapons, how will it react to Saudi Arabia's public statement of buying WMD's? Will the European Union (EU) decide to ban oil imports from Saudi since it is currently mulling on banning Iranian oil imports?

With the West enjoying a cordial relationship with the Saudi's, possibly they might turn a blind eye. And if they do so what justification can they give considering that they are currently pressuring Iran to abandon its nuclear program. Especially considering that the Saudi prince is known to have been in contact with Osama Bin Laden during the CIA-backed war in Afghanistan in the 80's.

With no substantial proof of Iran's intention of creating nuclear weapons and with clear indication of Saudi's intention of buying such weapons, the actions of the West will most probably be politics in play. In an oil dependent economy, the world cannot afford any supply disruption. With Iran warning of $250/barrel crude if they are harmed, we can only assume what any move against the Saudi's will do to Crude Oil prices. The US and Europe knows this and will in all possibility try to dissuade and if they fail turn a blind eye and avoid aggression.

And therefore what is most likely to push up crude prices in the near term will not be Saudi Arabia but Iran unless clear threats emerge from Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Arabia to spend $100bn on 16 nuclear plants

Education Minister Prince Faisal bin Abdullah talks to businessman Abdul Rahman Al-Jeraisy during the Saudi-US Business Forum in Atlanta, which ended on Wednesday. (AN photo) By P.K. ABDUL GHAFOUR | ARAB NEWS Published: Dec 8, 2011 23:52 Updated: Dec 8, 2011 23:52 JEDDAH: Saudi Arabia will spend more than $100 billion to establish 16 nuclear energy plants in different parts of the country within the next few years, Commerce and Industry Minister Abdullah Zainal Alireza told a Saudi-US business forum in Atlanta.

He made this comment while talking about the Kingdom's efforts to develop solar and other renewable energy technologies to reduce dependence on oil and gas. "We have allocated $3 billion to produce solar energy panels in Jubail and Yanbu," he added. Alireza said Saudi imports from the US are expected to cross $95 billion or 23 percent of the total US exports to Arab countries by 2012. "This amount is expected to double by 2015," the minister said while highlighting the significance of Saudi Arabia as a big market in the Middle East. "This goes in line with President Barack Obama's initiative for increasing US exports and creating 2 million new jobs for the Americans," he added. Alireza emphasized the strong, historic relations between Saudi Arabia and the US and hoped the Atlanta forum would contribute to strengthening the Saudi-US partnership. The US received 95 percent of the total Saudi exports to North America valued at SR124.68 billion in 2010, a statistical report issued by the Ministry of Economy and Planning said. "Saudi Arabia and the US should complement one another and integrate their strong points to build a value-added relationship," the minister said. "There are good prospects to expand these relations covering all economic sectors with the support of the two leaderships," he added. Education Minister Prince Faisal bin Abdullah led an impressive 250-member Saudi delegation to the forum, including government officials and business leaders. The forum, which concluded on Wednesday, discussed new investment opportunities worth $385 billion in the Kingdom in the key sectors of education, energy, electricity and water, transport and logistics, petrochemicals and infrastructure. In his keynote address, Alireza said Saudi-US relations are based on mutual values and respect.

He emphasized the need to develop an institutional cooperation to take bilateral ties to new heights. He underscored Saudi Arabia's position as the largest economy in the Middle East and a key member of the G-20. Massive public investment, rapid private-sector growth and new sector initiatives are driving an expansion projected to offer more than $1 trillion in trade and investment opportunities over the next decade. He said the economic and judicial reforms introduced by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah were instrumental in boosting the Kingdom's economy and attracting foreign investment. According to the World Bank's Doing Business 2012: Doing Business in a More Transparent World report released in October 2011, Saudi Arabia ranked as the 12th most business-friendly country out of 183 economies worldwide and led the Middle East region on the list. The commerce and industry minister underscored Saudi Arabia's strong economic and financial position. "The Kingdom's gross domestic product (GDP) grew by 4.1 percent in 2010 and the GDP growth rate in 2011 is expected to reach 6.5 percent." Speaking about the ninth Five-Year Development Plan, which has earmarked a budget of $385 billion, he said the projects mentioned in the strategy would be financed by the national revenue. He also spoke about the growing role of the private sector, saying it contributes 48 percent of GDP. "The present five-year plan aims to achieve a private sector growth of 6 percent," he said, adding the private sector would become a major driving force for the Kingdom's economy. The minister also referred to the Kingdom's diversification drive to reduce dependence on oil revenue. "We are now focusing on value-added products such as plastics and petrochemicals," he said. There are about 80 new petrochemical projects in the Kingdom, which would be completed by 2015. He described the Kingdom's housing sector as one of the largest in the Middle East, adding that $66 billion would be invested to construct 500,000 new homes.

Arab states won't allow Syrian "massacre"Saudi prince

VIENNA | Sat Dec 10, 2011 2:01am IST VIENNA (Reuters) - A senior Saudi prince said on Friday that Arab states would not stay on the sidelines and allow the "massacre" of the Syrian people, and he suggested President Bashar alAssad was unlikely to step down voluntarily. Diplomatic efforts to resolve the crisis in Syria have stalled, with Assad rejecting a peace plan offered in early November by the 22-state Arab League. That plan calls for government forces to be withdrawn to barracks and Arab observers to be allowed into Syria. Former Saudi intelligence chief Prince Turki al-Faisal, seen as influential though no longer holding public office, said he believed the Arab League was "not going to sit back and allow the continued massacre of the Syrian people". Syria has been hit by United States and European Union economic sanctions and suspended from the Arab League for its crackdown on anti-Assad protesters. "Sanctions have been imposed. I think more measures will be undertaken in the near future," Prince Turki told a conference in Vienna. Russia and China, however, have effectively blocked any similar move at the United Nations and Moscow is warning the West not to interfere in the affairs of its longtime Arab ally.

"I think as the killing continues they will definitely come along with the rest of us and see the leadership of Syria has to give up and hopefully in a less bloody way than is now being contemplated," Turki said. Asked whether there was any chance Saudi Arabia could help broker a possible power transfer deal as it did with Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh, he said: "I do not think so because Ali Abdullah Saleh, while delaying and playing for time...he in the end signed the deal. "Getting Bashar al-Assad to sign on a deal has been the difficulty. The Arab League, the world community ... has offered Bashar al-Assad an opportunity to undertake a way out...He has refused and it is a pity because it means more bloodshed." The United Nations says at least 4,000 people have been killed in Assad's crackdown on protests. Syrian authorities blame the violence on armed groups and say 1,100 soldiers and police have been killed since the demonstrations erupted in March. Turki said it was difficult to know how to proceed with Assad, who denies ordering his troops to kill peaceful demonstrators. "You have a president... who simply denies that there is anything wrong happening," he said, adding that this kind of leadership was "unacceptable". Nuclear program of Saudi Arabia

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia SOURCE: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuclear_program_of_Saudi_Arabia

Saudi Arabia is not known to have a nuclear weapons program. From an official and public standpoint, Saudi Arabia has been an opponent of nuclear weapons in the Middle East, having signed the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, and is a member of the coalition of countries demanding a Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zone in the Middle East.[1][2] Studies of nuclear proliferation have not identified Saudi Arabia as a country of concern.[3] However, over the years there have been media reports of Saudi Arabia's intent to purchase a nuclear weapon from an outside source. In 2003, a leaked strategy paper laid out three possible options for the Saudi government: to acquire a nuclear deterrent, to ally with and become protected by an existing nuclear nation, or to try to reach agreement on having a nuclear-free Middle East. UN officials and weapon specialists have suggested this review was prompted by a distancing of relations with the US, concerns over Iran's nuclear program, and the lack of international pressure on Israel to give up its nuclear weapons.[4]

U.S. involvement
In May 2008, the United States and Saudi Arabia signed a memorandum of understanding to boost Saudi efforts for a civilian nuclear energy program.[5]

Saudi Arabia and Iraq's nuclear weapon program

In 1994, Muhammad Khilewi, the second-in-command of the Saudi mission to the United Nations, applied for asylum in the United States. He provided a packet of 10,000 documents[citation needed] that alleged long time Saudi support of the Iraqi nuclear weapons program. According to these documents, during the Saddam Hussein regime in Iraq, the Saudis supported the Iraqi nuclear program with $5 billion on the condition that successful nuclear technology and possibly even nuclear weapons would be transferred to Saudi Arabia.[6] Khilewi obtained asylum in the US, with the consent of Saudi Arabia. The allegations have not been

confirmed by any other source, and US officials have stated that they have no evidence of Saudi assistance to Iraqi nuclear development.[7] Saudi officials denied the allegations.[8] Furthermore, senior Clinton administration officials who were responsible for Mideast affairs at the time Khilewi sought asylum, including Robert Pelletreau of the State Department and Bruce Riedel of the National Security Council, said they found nothing in Khilewi's debriefings to back up the Media reports about a Saudi nuclear program. "There was nothing there," Pelletreau said. (Vartan 2005)

Historically, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have extremely cordial relations which sometimes attributed as special relationship.[9] Many in Pakistan's political scientists and historians have summed up that Saudi interests in nuclear technology began in 1970s after Zulfikar Ali Bhutto introduced Pakistan's leading theoretical physicists (who went on to join the King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals), and took the discussion where Prime minister Zulfi Bhutto pointed out the advancements made in the Israeli and the Indian nuclear programme to intimidate the Muslim world, with the Saudi royal government in 1974 after the royal family paid a visit to Pakistan in 1974, as part of 2nd OIC conference, Lahore.[9] It is widely believed that Saudi Arabia has been a sole financier of Pakistan's own integrated atomic bomb project since 1974, a programme founded by former prime minister Zulfi Bhutto.[9] In 1980s, President General Zia-ul-Haq paid a state visit to Saudi Arabia where he unofficially told the King that: "Our achievements are yours".[9] In 1998, the conservative Prime minister Nawaz Sharif took Saudi Arabia in confidence before ordering the nuclear tests (see the codenames Chagai-I and Chagai-II) in Weapon-testing labs-III (WTL) in Chagai remote site in Balochistan Province of Pakistan.[9] In June 1998, the Prime minister paid a farewell visit to King Fahd and publicly thanked Saudi government for supporting the country after conducting the tests.[9] Soon, the Saudi Minister of Defense Prince Sultan traveled with the Prime minister Sharif where he toured a classified institute, the Kahuta Research Laboratories (KRL) where the leading scientist Abdul Qadeer Khan briefed the Prince and the Prime minister Sharif also, on nuclear physics and the sensitive issues involving the weapon-grade explosives.[9] In 2003 it was reported that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia had entered a secret agreement on "nuclear cooperation" providing Saudi Arabia with nuclear weapons technology in return for access to cheap oil for Pakistan.[10] In March 2006, the German magazine Cicero reported that Saudi Arabia had since 2003 received assistance from Pakistan to acquire nuclear missiles and warheads. Satellite photos allegedly reveal an underground city and nuclear silos with Ghauri rockets in Al-Sulaiyil, south of the capital Riyadh.[11] Pakistan has denied aiding Saudi Arabia in any nuclear ambitions.[12]

Furthermore, the Arab states of the Persian Gulf plan to start their own joint civilian nuclear program, which has raised fears of proliferation.[citation needed] In March 2007, foreign ministers of the six-member Gulf Cooperation Council met in Saudi Arabia to discuss progress in plans agreed in December 2006, for a joint civilian nuclear program.[13]

[edit] Missile capability

In 1987 it was reported that Saudi Arabia purchased between 50 and 60 Chinese-made CSS-2 intermediate-range ballistic missiles equipped with a high explosive warhead, which have a range of 2,800 km with a payload of either 2,150 or 2,500 kg together with between 10 and 15 transport vehicle systems.[14]
