PHYSICS LAB GUIDE QUESTIONS EXPERIMENT # 2 1. Compare the graphical and analytical solutions in solving for resultant of vectors.

. - The graphical analysis of vectors depends on the accuracy of the instruments used such as protractor and ruler and the precision with which the drawing is made. Hence, care must be exercised when using the graphical method. On the other hand, the component/analytical method is a more convenient and accurate way to add vectors. - The graphical method gives reasonably close agreement with the analytical method. Even though the graph is done with the aid of the instruments such as protractor and ruler, still, due to the limitations inherent in the construction of those measuring instruments or devices, the values are not precisely the desired value. That is, even though graphical method appears being simpler it may not be able to produce very precise results. On the other hand, the analytical method, using the vector components, even though possibly longer to do, produces much more precise calculations. 2. Is there a device other than force table that you can use in demonstrating resultant of vectors? Discuss and illustrate.

3. Which is more accurate method of solving the resultant vector? Explain - Graphical analysis makes it possible o evaluate a combination of vectors, but the component method gives more precise values for the magnitude and direction of the resultant. Another good point of the analytical/component method is that it always deals with right triangles which require simple calculations. 4. Two vectors have unequal magnitudes. Can their resultant be zero? Explain

- No. For the sum of two vectors to be equal to zero the sum of their respective components must be equal zero. Likewise, if two vectors added yielded a zero vector, then the two vectors are of equal magnitude and opposite direction. 5. A vector has an x-component of 30N and a y-component of 40N. Find the magnitude and direction of this vector.
