The A356 alloy meets or exceeds all the requirements for mechanical strength, ductility, hardness, fatigue strength, pressure tightness, fluidity, and machinability. The A356 alloy is the best choice. Go on to the next design decision.

To obtain the T6 heat treatment condition, the as cast sample of A356 without grain refinement were solution treated in Carbolite oven at 540C for 6 h and then water quenched before artificially aged at 160C for 6 h (Metals Handbook, 1981). The heat treated samples were also subjected to similar tests described above.
