CHAPTER 2

CREATIVITY PRECAST PANELS FOR IBS

Introduction
Panel system Defined as prefabricated exhibit composed of connected rectangular panels of various sizes Made in various forms and normally prefabricated at factory Those structures contribute only for aesthetical expression of building
General system Panel System System Light and medium weight panel Heavy weight panel (factory produced) Heavy weight panel (tilt up produced on site) Production Material Wood frame, metal frame, and composite materials Concrete Concrete

Building system classification according to relative weight of component (Majzub, 1977).

Creativity Precast Concrete

High quality with respect to strength, durability, shape and surface finishing
Used for precast facades of building, which are intended to contribute to the esthetical expression of the construction

Facade
The face or front of a building, especially the principal face. A facade is the outer appearance which is forecasted to make the viewers or observers believe that the thing behind the outer appearance will be as good as the outer appearance

PANEL WITH FALSE COLUMN

False column are simple column provided at the opening side of the door. Simply bind at grade beam or at roof rods.

Seven Wonders of Precast : Jubilee Church

One of the most unique precast structures to be built in recent memory is the Jubilee Church in Rome

PANEL WITH CAST-IN ALUMINIUM WINDOW FRAME

The implementation of cast-in window system requires coordination between the window fabricator and the precaster

Proper handling and protection are important throughout the precast process, delivery and erection of the precast wall panels. Protection of the frames should remain intact throughout the construction phase to avoid physical damages to the frames, which could be costly to rectify or replace.

CORNICE
Cornices are generally found at the very top of an exterior wall, just under the roof line. Historically cornices were designed to prevent rainwater from running off the roof and hitting the walls Most buildings today solve the rainwater problem with gutters, however cornices are still used as decorative elements. Position of cornice: a) the upper slanting part of an entablature located above the frieze b) over a door or window c) around the edge of a pedestal

CORNICES

A cornice is a decorative molding element found at the top of building walls

PRECAST STAIRCASE
The stair units are precast reinforced concrete modular stairs used in layouts which are individually designed to suit the client's requirements

The Precast Staircase - manufactured in sections specifically designed to be manhandled. The Precast Staircase System - suited to all types of buildings, including residential, commercial and industrial applications, e.g. townhouses, clusters, offices, houses, low-cost housing and fire escapes.

ADVANTAGES OF PRECAST STAIRCASE

Expert advice, professional service and prompt delivery Quality, uniform product - all dimensions are constant throughout the stair making tiling / finishing simple Flexibility - fully adjustable to suit any floor to floor height The advantages of a dry trade The elimination of form work enables instant access and use of stairs Tiles laid directly onto stairs - no screed required Balustrades can be fixed to either the top or side of the stairs Rapid installation Cost savings on material, time and labour

Example of product
Structural Insulated Panel - SIPs
A Structural Insulated Panel (SIP) is a panel construction system consisting of Foam-Control EPS (expanded polystyrene) insulation laminated between sheets of structural sheathing.

This simple sandwich panel forms an amazingly strong insulated panel for building walls, roofs and floors for sip homes or commercial buildings.
