Why is it required.

An aircraft in emergency or other

situation may need to dump fuel so as to reduce maximum landing mass in order to effect a safe landing.

Conditions before authorizing


Acft shall advise ATC its intent to

dump fuel and reasons


ATC shall coordinate with acft

duration of fuel dumping & route to be flown


Route should be clear of cities & towns Preferably over water Away from reported/expected TS zones Level not below 6000 feet

Separation
Lateral Separation
at least 10nm but not behind the aircraft

dumping fuel;
if behind the aircraft dumping fuel and

within 10 NM of the track flown by the aircraft a distance of 50nm 15min flying time

Vertical separation if lateral separation is not maintained
at

least 1000ft if above aircraft dumping fuel; and


least 3000ft if below aircraft dumping fuel;

at

Horizontal Boundaries

If within the above boundary then

1) at least 1000ft if above aircraft dumping fuel; and


2) at least 3000ft if below aircraft dumping fuel;

Coordination/Information
A warning message shall be broadcast on

appropriate phraseology
Upon

frequencies

in

standard

completion of Fuel dumping the termination of the same shall be broadcast on the same frequencies
ATS unit shall be advised to broadcast the information for aircraft likely to

Adjacent

Radio Procedure
Aircraft may normally maintain radio silence during
the fuel dumping operation hence

the frequency to be monitored by the

flight crew should be agreed; and


the time when radio silence will be

terminated should be agreed.

FUEL DUMPING AREA AT HYDERABAD AIRPORT (SHAMSHABAD)


Area between R225 and R240 HIA VOR at a

distance of 25 to 40 NM from HIA, FL 100 and above is identified for dumping of fuel by Acft in case of emergency.
After completion of fuel dumping Acft is accorded

priority for landing.
