Socio Economic Groups

Socio-economic groups divide the population into 6 divisions according to occupation or job. The six socio-economic groups are as follows: A Higher managerial, administrative, professional e.g. Chief executive, senior civil servant, surgeon. B Intermediate, administrative, professional e.g. bank manager, teacher. C1 Supervisory, clerical, junior managerial e.g. shop floor supervisor, bank clerk, sales person. C2 Skilled manual workers e.g. electrician, carpenter. D Semi-skilled and unskilled workers e.g. assembly line workers, refuse collector, messenger. E Casual laborers, pensioners, unemployed e.g. pensioners without private pensions and anyone living on basic benefits. We will be targeting our production to people in socio groups E - B, because we believe that many different types of people will appreciate our short film. Students, who are in group E, will probably understand our piece the most, as they will be able to relate to the context of our work. Teachers, who will also be able to relate, are in group B. We also feel that people at the higher end (C2-B) will enjoy our work because it requires the audience to think, this is because of the use of intersexuality; only a more sophisticated viewer may understand the narrative of our text fully.
